The NFL is back with its annual Hall of Fame game in Canton, with the Arizona Cardinals taking on the Carolina Panthers. While starters Bryce Young and Jacoby Brissett did not suit up for the preseason thriller, backups Kenny Pickett and rookie Carson Beck led the teams’ offenses. Carson Beck had a stellar showing at halftime, putting up 188 passing yards on 15/19 attempts and one touchdown. Veteran commentator Cris Collinsworth even mentioned Broncos star Bo Nix as a possible comparison for the former Miami rookie after just 30 minutes of play in the NFL. However, the comparison did not sit well with fans, who took to X (formerly Twitter) to call out Collinsworth. One fan said: “Cris Collinsworth just compared Carson Beck to Bo Nix. Give me a break why is this guy on TV.”
While another fan added:
“Collinsworth comparing Beck to Bo Nix get this guy off my screen immediately.”
Cris Collinsworth’s Career As An NFL Wideout
A 6-foot-5 wide receiver out of Dayton, Ohio, Collinsworth was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 1981 NFL draft with the 37th pick in the second round after a four-year career at Florida. As a Bengal, Collinsworth hit the ground running, putting up 1009 yards in his first season alongside eight touchdowns.
Collinsworth is also known for his infamous fumble against the 49ers in Super Bowl XVI, which eventually led to a 94-yard touchdown by San Francisco, winning them the game.
Collinsworth ended his career as a three-time Pro Bowler and three-time Second-team All-Pro selection, and was subsequently inducted into the Bengals’ 50th Anniversary team.
