“Caitlin Clark Solely Responsible For The L”: Fever Fans Get Critical After Indiana’s Clutch Loss to Aces

On Thursday, the Indiana Fever came up short in overtime against the Las Vegas Aces. Thanks to Chelsea Gray’s heroics, the Aces tied the game at the end of regulation and pulled off an 86-84 win in the extra period.

Gray was incredibly clutch, but Fever fans pointed out several other reasons that led to Indiana’s defeat.

“Caitlin solely responsible for the L tonight. Missed free throws, bricks all night, turnovers galore,” one fan tweeted.

The Fever led by as many as 20 points in the second quarter. However, the Aces picked up their defensive intensity and went on a 15-0 run before the halftime buzzer sounded.

Las Vegas eventually gained the upper hand with a 7-0 run in the third quarter, and for the rest of the second half, neither team could blow the game wide open.

With seven seconds left in regulation, Clark (20 points, eight rebounds, eight turnovers) had the opportunity to potentially put the game away with two free throws as the Fever led 75-72. She missed both free throws, however, setting the stage for Gray to hit a buzzer-beating triple to send the game into overtime.

Gray, who finished with 11 points and seven assists, made another buzzer-beating three at the end of OT to give the Aces their first win over the Fever this season.

During the third quarter of the Fever-Aces game, there was a bit of action on the sidelines as a fan appeared to be escorted by security out of Gainbridge Fieldhouse.


Footage from the game shows Aces star Jackie Young apparently taking issue with a fan as she was set to take a free throw.

The Fever’s PR team went on to release a statement on this situation.

“Following a report of a comment directed toward a player, arena security spoke with the fan involved and witnesses. Security determined there was no violation of the Fan Code of Conduct, the fan was not removed from the arena, but elected to leave. We consider the matter closed.”

For what it’s worth, Young is an Indiana native who made waves with Princeton Community High School before her stint with Notre Dame.
