‘We Need to Chop It Up’ - Draymond Green Reveals ‘Crazy’ Warriors Pitch to LeBron James During Free Agency
LeBron James has continued to weigh every option ahead of what could be his final NBA season.
James has reportedly heard pitches from several players and executives across the league, but a decision does not appear imminent. The latest star to try to pitch James is Draymond Green, who recently revealed his plan to recruit the 22-time All-Star.
Draymond Green Reveals Pitch to LeBron James
Amid speculation about James’ free agency decision, Green took to his podcast, The Draymond Green Show, where he shared his attempt to recruit James to the Warriors after the two golfed together earlier this week.
“I’d be remissed if I don’t take the opportunity to throw my pitch in there, I’d be crazy if we’re together for x amount of days and at no point am I like ‘yo, we need to chop it up, what the hell going on? what we doing?'” Green said.
“Of course I did that and of course the pitch was crazy… with the things I shared in it, it’s definitely gonna make the brain work a little bit… but we wasn’t going to hang out for a recruitment pitch.”
Green, who is also currently a free agent after declining his $27.7M player option, is, in his own words, “working with the organization” to give the Warriors more flexibility before eventually re-signing. Given the situation, he’s making his best effort to bring James with him.
James and his Cavaliers faced off against Curry and Green’s Warriors in four consecutive NBA Finals from 2015 to 2018. Years later, the longtime rivals now have an opportunity to join forces, forming one of the NBA’s most experienced and accomplished big threes.
It is also worth noting that fans had the chance to watch Curry and James play together during the 2024 Summer Olympics. Led by the two future first-ballot Hall of Famers, Team USA posted a perfect 6-0 record and took home the gold medal, thanks to Curry’s eight 3-pointers and James’ double-double in the gold medal game against France.

Between Curry’s ball-handling, sharpshooting, and clutchness; James’ playmaking and ability to attack the basket; Green’s leadership and overall impact; and a strong supporting cast featuring Jimmy Butler III, Kristaps Porzingis, and Brandin Podziemski, the Warriors could be one of the most electrifying teams in the association.
James still has plenty of time to make a decision, but if he ultimately opts for Golden State and signals that this season will be his last, the Warriors would become must-see TV night after night during the 2026-27 NBA season.
