Summary: The Cards grabbed Davis over a few SEC squads back in 2024 and are looking for his on field development to mirror that of his improved speed and quickness. Sitting behind some high caliber weapons on the depth chart when he walked in the door, Davis saw a few reps as a freshman and again last year during his redshirt season, wrapping up three Colonels (EKU) like he was leading the infantry. Davis spent a bit of time pondering his future with the Cards this offseason, going so far as to enter his name in the portal, but was back on the squad this spring and participating in the practices and making some plays.
During said practices we heard some praise for Davis as the staff liked the extra speed off the edge he was showcasing, something they had been looking for the last couple years. With Davis sticking around, he likely saw a window of opportunity to slide into some more significant playing time, and look to act as a support role on the line, carving out chunks of time from some of the upperclassmen and transfers. Davis has good size, and now is flexing some additional athleticism. I know a large contingent of the fanbase who has followed Davis since high school are hoping we see MD 2.0 this year, with the “doctor” turning himself into a starting caliber lineman in 2027.
