The New York Yankees have hit a real sticky patch in their season, which has even seen an old Donald Trump post resurface.

Aaron Boone’s team has now lost four of their last six games following Monday’s defeat against the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Yankees are currently the joint-worst performing team in the AL East alongside the Baltimore Orioles having gone 5-5 in their last 10 games.

A high-flying Boston Red Sox are even beginning to close the gap on the Yankees in second spot of the division.

Pressure on the team has not eased following a quiet trade deadline by GM Brian Cashman.

Back in 2013, Trump posted about the Yankees being ‘lucky’ that George Steinbrenner is still not the owner, which has sparked back into the limelight as Boone requires answers from his team.

New York Yankees fans react to 2013 Donald Trump post as Brian Cashman receives scrutiny

‘The Yankees are sure lucky George Steinbrenner is not around. A lot of people would be losing their jobs,’ said the President of the United States back in 2013.

This 13-year-old post, originally on Twitter, has now resurfaced on X, with Yankees fans claiming it is still true.

‘We finally agree on something 13 years later,’ one Yankees fan replied after Monday’s loss to the Cardinals.

‘This is the truth even today,’ replied another.

The Yankees are three wins adrift of the Tampa Bay Rays, who currently occupy the top spot of the AL East.

Having seen the likes of the Los Angeles Dodgers make big-money moves, the Yankees have stood still.

Agreeing with the president’s old post, one Yankees fan said: ‘Very relevant now.’

Whilst another replied: ‘Donnie T. something I can finally get behind’.

The Yankees are hopeful that Aaron Judge will be able to return at some point in the season following his rib injury that has kept him out since June.

’13 years later it stands…’ said another Yankees fan.

With many fans sharing the same sentiment, one other Yankees fan said: ‘Still relevant to this day’.
