Caitlin Clark has been receiving her flowers for the performances she’s put in of late, but she believes that there’s somebody else who deserves the plaudits.
Caitlin Clark put on a clinic against the Liberty, dropping 22 points and dishing 10 assists to lead Indiana to a 106–92 win. It’s just the latest example of the kind of season she’s having – she’s completely running the show for the Fever and making playmaking look casual night in, night out.
Arguments over the WNBA’s best scorer usually get heated quickly. Fans love debating bucket-getters like Arike Ogunbowale or Kelsey Mitchell, while others point straight to A’ja Wilson or Breanna Stewart.
It really just depends on whether you prefer mid-range ISOs, deep-range shooters, or players who can bully their way to 25 points in the paint every night.
Caitlin Clark says Kelsey Mitchell is the best scorer in the WNBA
Well, the scoring debate is pretty easy in the eyes of Caitlin Clark, as she believes it’s her Indiana Fever teammate Kelsey Mitchell.
Speaking after the Indiana Fever’s win over the New York Liberty, she had this to say:
“She just doesn’t miss. It’s pretty incredible. She’s the best scorer in the league, hands down. It’s not even close.”
Kelsey Mitchell dropped a game-high 28 points, scoring 20 in the first half, to power Indiana over New York, so the comments come as no surprise.
While Mitchell acts as the high-volume finisher, Caitlin Clark functions as the engine, posting 22 points and 10 assists, with their own roles to play.
