The Seattle Mariners have jumped on the viral trend of their new city hero, Jimothy the raccoon, with the local legend set to be honored at T Mobile Park.

Tuesday saw Dan Wilson’s side shock the Los Angeles Dodgers in a thrilling 7-6 win at Dodger Stadium.

It has been a rocky period for the Mariners, who have dipped below the .500 mark, with the likes of Cal Raleigh failing to continue his electric form from last year.

Perhaps the win over the Dodgers could suggest a corner is being turned ahead of the run-in, but the fans in Seattle will need to see more to be convinced.

To help boost the morale of the fanbase in the Pacific Northwest, the Mariners are putting on a Jimothy the raccoon theme night.

Jimothy night will be coming to T Mobile Park on Wednesday, August 5 when the Detroit Tigers come to town, and fans in Seattle are already excited.

Seattle Mariners fans left pumped for Jimothy the raccoon night at T Mobile Park

Julio Rodriguez has already been spotted in a Jimothy t-shirt whilst warming up to face the Texas Rangers recently.

The little raccoon has gone viral across the world and it is Seattle who get to claim him as their own.

Responding to the news, one fan jokingly replied: ‘You know a season is going poorly when’.

‘i love this dumb city so much,’ added another Mariners fan.

Courtesy of Farmers Insurance, fans will receive a Jimothy x Mariners t-shirt and the first 20,000 fans will also get a Jimothy rookie card, with various rarities on offer.

‘Going to be worth over $500 probably,’ said another after hearing about the 1/1 gold rookie card.

‘Those cards are gonna resell for big money,’ added one fan.

Theme nights always go down well in baseball, with the bobblehead giveaways often proving the most popular. However, the novelty of the Jimothy trend is undoubtedly going to make next week’s giveaway a hit.

Excited for the giveaway, one Mariners fan also said: ‘I love every bit of this’.

‘Yes!!! Celebrating Jimothy every day!’ added another.
