Aaron Rodgers strikes again, and this time around, the NFL world is doing more than take notice. Any time Rodgers shares his take on something outside the gridiron, there’s a long line of critics waiting to shake their stick at him.
This time, social media is having a ball with Rodgers, not because of his tirade against Dr. Anthony Fauci, but because of what was just revealed about him before the Pittsburgh Steelers’ playoff loss last season.
Aaron Rodgers Gets Clowned After Battling Flu
As NFL training camps heat up, Rodgers has been making media rounds. First, it was a trip to visit his old pal on “The Pat McAfee Show.” More recently, he spoke to The Athletic’s Mike Silver and revealed that he was battling a nasty flu late last season.
The four-time MVP also revealed that he was puking just before the Steelers’ Wild Card Playoff loss to the Houston Texans when their season came to a close.
Rodgers said that he was so pale that the Steelers made him go home before the game. While he claims he recovered from his flu-like symptoms, which included a fever, before the game kicked off, the horse had already bolted from the barn.
Social media already had enough to run with and have a field day.
Right away, one commenter busted out a joke, saying, “I can’t believe Tony Fauci did this to him.”
Then, someone tried to suggest a flu shot would have prevented Rodgers from showing the symptoms he had.
“If only there was something that could introduce a small portion of the virus into your system to help you be better prepared to battle it when you do actually get it… They should really work on something like that.”
Another commenter agreed, suggesting Rodgers should have tried a “flu vaccine.”
“Flu vaccine might have helped.
Cowboys beat writer Clarence Hill Jr. tossed out the suggestion that Rodgers may have been dealing with COVID.
“Maybe he had COVID.”
Meanwhile, one user on X said, Rodgers always “has an excuse for everything.”
Rodgers ended up completing just 17-of-33 passes for 146 scoreless yards and an interception in Pittsburgh’s 30-6 loss to Houston. Flu or not, clearly, he was not at his best.
This time around, Rodgers will look to go out on a high after confirming this will be his final season in the league.
