i dunno...didnt the skins draft cousins late after getting some flashy guy in the first?? it isnt unheard of to pull two QB's in the same year...though technically the second QB would be if we drafted a kid next april...![]()
QB Brendan Sorsby Preparing For Supplemental Draft
Barring a last minute injunction to restore his eligibility, Brendan Sorsby is preparing for the NFL's supplemental draft.www.profootballrumors.com
I didn't see a full thread about this, feel free to delete this if there is.
It seems like Sorsby is going to have to enter the Supplemental Draft at this point, barring a lot of things going his way. Yes, we drafted Beck, but we have a holdout going on with Brissett, and will likely end up back in the early QB market next year anyways.
There's a lot of risk with suspensions and gambling, but we have a need, and could maybe get a discount on a premier player. Although, drafting two QBs in one offseason could limit our choices in the 2027 Draft.
Thoughts?
maybe he owed the local bookie and would have suffered serious consequences if he declared for the draft??my question:
if Sorsby is such a highly rated QB - Why didnt he come out this last year?
dont tell me NIL. This was a QB light draft and he had an opportunity to be the 2nd QB drafted. First round money kills Texas Tech NIL money.
Most state governments love gambling addicts. Lotteries have way worse odds than casinos and obviously more easily accessible.
It didn't seem like a big issue back in the 80s or early 90s in Virginia when the lottery first started. Scratch tickets were mainly a $1 and the top prize winnings were rather modest. It was more a novelty and just a fun activity. That didn't last long though. Now $20,$40, and even $50 scratch tickets exist. I imagine many of us have witnessed people in local gas stations throwing away their latest paycheck feverishly scratching away on a stack of tickets.
Gambling addiction via Sports betting is becoming an epidemic on many college campuses sadly. Situations like Sorsby will become more common.

yes, but looking at (lets say) the #15 pick in this draft: contract was for a $5.9mm signing bonus, $4.25mm in yr 1 -- ~$24mm fully guaranteed. Why not ask the same of Dante Moore from Oregon? Realistically, he would have gone to the Jets at #2, or us at #3, unless he fell apart in the pre-draft process. NIL is a significant qualifier.
Sorsby's transfer was worth $5 million. Literally a record deal, the highest payout in what's a short NIL history.
Oh come on, for this place that is a very hi bar even if we exclude the loons and PR (not to mention the loons in PR)Maybe the most ignorant post ever.
Did you have documented family history showing a tendency to say alcoholism ?Sorry if you think I'm ignorant trust me I'm not offended. Have a good one no disrespect intended
I covered this earlier in this thread.yes, but looking at (lets say) the #15 pick in this draft: contract was for a $5.9mm signing bonus, $4.25mm in yr 1 -- ~$24mm fully guaranteed.
that beats the heck outta a one year deal for $6mm.
my assertion/ speculation is:
Sorsby and Moore were likely given late Rd 1 / Rd 2 grades by the NFL draft evaluation service and they concluded that another year in college would be needed to get into the top half of Rd 1.
Moore said that because of NIL, he can feel better about refining his game for another year before coming out.Why not ask the same of Dante Moore from Oregon? Could be a smart move for some guys.Moore said that because of NIL, he can feel better about refining his game for another year before coming out.
Yeah...as also covered earlier in this thread...they came back for their 3rd year, not their 5th.I covered this earlier in this thread.
"Off the top of my head, Matt Stafford, Andrew Luck and Trevor Lawrence were universally considered #1 overall pick basically from when they were in high school, yet the first year they were draft eligible they chose to go back to school anyway. Matt Leinart, Jake Locker, Sam Bradford, Justin Herbert, Marcus Mariota. There are tons of examples of players turning down the draft even though they are widely expected to be very high picks. Add to the equation that Sorsby had five million reasons to stay in college."
There are other reasons than money that decide if players stay in college or not.
Yeah...before last season Dante Moore had 5 games with over 20 passing attempts. He had Mitch Trubisky's career experience arc after last year. It's not like he started two or three seasons and went back.Moore said that because of NIL, he can feel better about refining his game for another year before coming out.
What a joke. Embarrassing for college football and for sports betting.Just reported a judge has granted his injunction and he is now eligible for the upcoming season.
