This is a small thing but a bit irritating. When I click on a thread my expectations is it will take me to the first unread post. It does that for a split second then it just scrolls up about 4-6 posts which I've already read. Is this a common occurrence here or do I have something in settings I've missed.

Same thing happens to me when there’s a bunch of twitter links. Is there a way to block them from loading?

Yeah, this has always been a problem but it's gotten really, really bad lately. Almost unreadable bad. I stay away from the board more than usual because of it. Yesterday it glitched so whenever you got to the new post, it kept sending you back!

I already mentioned it elsewhere, items jumping, but I think it's items loading not just tweets.

Sometimes it's like trying to hit a moving target.

I've seen it other places not that it doesn't need to be fixed.

Do a hard reload of the site, Ctrl+F5, to make sure that style sheets get reloaded and then let's see how the site operates the next couple of days. I made a couple tweaks tonight that might fix this issue or at least reduce it. Unfortunately the site isn't very active right now for me to test it and I only had a couple threads with new posts that also had embeds on that page. The YouTube thread in music didn't jump on me so fingers crossed.

Youtube seems to be the only thing that doesn't do this. The Go To New Post function does work, but since it takes longer for embeds from Twitter, Insta and Facebook, the page itself gets graphically longer, pushing everything down. Fix the loading or make the view jump with the page would be the only solutions, but I doubt there is an easy way to accommodate it.

Now not only won't it go to the newest post, no matter how long you wait, there are threads where it is impossible to read new posts. The page constantly twitches back up. This is happening on my home and work computer, so it is is a site issue. Unlike the newest post issue, which is merely annoying, this makes at least a quarter of the content here literally unreadable.

If it was a site issue, everyone would see it. I have not. That is, if I'm reading your explanation correctly.

I'm going to try to read more often today here at work (just kidding, VA!) to see how much it happens. Maybe it's worse on my home laptop.
Well, you know me, there is also an equally good chance I wasn't reading it correctly. LOL

I think the twitching issue might be with ads downloading.

A faster internet speed or more RAM might make it less noticeable. It continues to be a problem for me.

Only issue I'm continuing to see is the social media embeds taking a longer time to load than the rest of the page.

The social media plugin lazy loads them after the page loads. It's just how it's works. :( I've been trying to play with the layout and it's helped a bit. I have posts with an embed reserving 500px of space now instead of the minimum.

The problem is that the embeds are all variable high based on how much text, if there's a picture or video in it, if it's a reply, etc. When I went through a bunch of pages one night it they were mostly running between 200-800px. There were even a couple in P&R that were well over 2000px tall with the images and retweets that were inside of it. And don't even get me started on the posts with more than one X embed in them…

So I went with the 500 to try to get a good balance. Going bigger causes an issue the other way when it's a smaller, like 200px, embed. The page will move up 300px when it's resolved. We simply don't have the info to layout the page out to the correct size the first time. The forum software would need to be rewritten to load all of the embeds before the initial layout to fully solve it.
