what a year for oso - didn't see that one coming
Hopefully, it's a bellwether for our 2nd year players next season. Mostly Fleming and Maluach and hopefully, maybe even Brea too. I also hope Dunn gains more confidence and becomes more aggressive on offense. When he did that, like in the last regular season game against OKC, he was MUCH more effective. When he never looked to score, much less so. I hope he takes the next step as well.what a year for oso - didn't see that one coming
I did a lot of in-game Oso bashing. But truth is, for where we got him and where he started, he’s been a find. A great player? No. But a legitimate rotation player. I just wish it was lower down the rotation. My concern is that his greatest issue - a complete inability to shoot the ball, doesn’t seem to be improving. And that will forever hold him back if he can’t improve. Because the other aspects of his game aren’t likely to get better. He’s already a good ball handler and passer and screener for a big. He isn’t growing taller or getting more athletic. So shooting seems his lone path to improvement.what a year for oso - didn't see that one coming
he needs the jumpshot but fortunately for oso i'm thinking it'll only need to be from one spotI did a lot of in-game Oso bashing. I think Oso could be a version of a Luke Kornet type player, except better. Oso is quite athletic and versatile other than his shooting. There are probably better comparisons.
I think he's somewhere between a poor man's Lamar Odom and a rich man's Luke Walton. Or... maybe just Luke Walton with better D and no mid range.
I question if he can even develop one. He worked on it in college. He has worked on it every camp. He still doesn't have one. Without one he simply isn't anything more than a backup center in this league. The question now isn't if he develops a jumpshot, the question now is how long do we wait for him to develop one? This is going to be year 3 and if we don't see improvement in that area next season, I'll be done. I REALLY hope he gets a jumpshot because I think his court vision and passing ability are top-notch for a big man.
