Why sign Brissett and then bring Huntley in for a tryout unless you are trying to move Kyler during the draft. My conspiracy brain is working overtime with this move.

Exactly. Man, this board would EXPLODE if Kyler were traded during the draft.
Especially considering it would result in $92 million in dead money. We'd have to cut $70 million in space.

Couldn't it just be a move to replace Tune as the third string QB? Saying this, it does seem a little strange to invest resources at this time in evaluating a possible third string QB.

3rd string is also generally scout team. He's mobile, which can better simulate that part of the game.

This team acts like it is not comfortable at quarterback. Maybe draft Skat and run the ball 35 or 40 times a game.

I would like to see them perhaps draft a qb in round 5 to develop as Ron Wolf always did for the Packers especially if they are not high on Tune. Gabriel Oregon, Ewers Texas, Howard Ohio State & McCord Syracuse are some names to consider.

would be awesome, the 2026 QB draft class is sick.....
The Cards would likely have to tank again, to have a high draft pick, because the most likely teams that would trade for Kyler would have good to great rosters already (Jets, Minny, Pittsburgh) and just be needing a QB. Expecting the other team to have a high pick after the trade wouldn't be too wise of a gamble. Or they'd have to be willing to mortgage the future to trade up. Either way, be careful what you wish for.

well... I dunno... we could package our pick with what we get in a trade for Kyler and move into the top 3 most likely.
hypothetically speaking...its not inconceivable that if we traded Kyler on draft day this year..we could get a 2026 and 2027 first...or a 26 first and a second this year.
Then next year bundle our 25 with shittsburghs 15, and maybe our 2027 first...and that should get us to number 2 overall

Just a weird action
I don’t know about you, but when something really strikes me as odd I just can’t stop rolling it around in my mind. Why bring in Huntley? Surely they like Brissett better considering his contract. It’s hard to picture Huntley signing up to go on the practice squad. I think the Cards decided they would come out of the draft favored to make the playoffs. They looked at the tremendous number of QB injuries last season. They also can’t take the playoffs for granted as they have to consider Murray wants to run more. The offensive line is not set, so Murray may get more exposure. If he’s out for any length of time can they survive without Murray. Brissett will be even more exposed than Murray since Brissett’s mobility has declined. They want to position themselves to have an additional backup in whom they have a decent level of confidence. How they manage that, I haven’t a clue unless they overpay Huntley to agree to the practice squad and guarantee to move him to the roster if there’s a threat for someone to take him. Regardless the Cards were likely indicating they are ready to be all in.
