Indeed, the ⁦‪@NFL‬⁩ has shortened its preseason to two games. Primary driver was the understanding that players will need longer to get into football shape. There will be a ~ 3-week acclimatization period between the start of camp July 28 and the first pod of preseason games.

Games are scheduled to be played in Weeks 2 and 3 of the original preseason schedule. Could mean we’ve seen the last 4-week NFL preseason. CBA allows for it to be shortened if/when 17-game regular seasons start.

This is dumb in my opinion.

There's a ton of evidence that it's difficult to catch outdoors. The vast majority of infections come from prolonged exposure in confined spaces. Homes, cafes, public transport, bars etc.

Soccer is back in most of Europe and has been for 2-3 weeks. They spend 90 minute trying to stay close to each other. Standing around close together for much of the time. Not a single infection so far.

In young, healthy men, even the large ones, the risk is tiny.

Only 0.2% of deaths of been in the 20-40 age range. Only 0.9% of deaths have had no pre existing health conditions.

Combine the low risk of outdoor infection with the incredibly low risk of death for the age and health groups associated with pro ballers and you probably have as much chance of being hit by lightning while catching an 80 yard pass.

Terrible year for undrafted free agents, the deck is stacked against them in most years but this year they have even less of a chance

really? I think some might benefit. If players go down or have to be quarantine, it might give some guys the opportunity to play.

1/2 Browns’ TE David Njoku and his agent Drew Rosenhaus asked today for the team to trade him. The Browns told Njoku they would like to keep him, but Rosenhaus told them he’s intent on a trade. They want a trade before training camp.

2/2 About David Njoku’s trade request today to the Browns, agent Drew Rosenhaus said: "It is in David's best interest to find a new team at this time."

With a cut down in roster size those guys don’t get a chance to practice or play in the preseason, which is a shortened preseason anyway. It already had a negative effect on camp tryouts as there haven’t been any and we always have 2-3 of those guys make the training camp roster too. I just don’t see how it is anything but a negative for them. I am willing to bet the team will go with guys who have been on at minimum a NFL practice squad on their smaller roster rather than guys that are pretty much unknown without any investment in (like draft picks).

Eagles decision on whether to keep DeSean Jackson could come down to whether post is a default under his contract. Jackson is guaranteed $4.8M this year in salary and already received a $2M option bonus. Eagles could try to figure out a way out of guaranteed salary first.

Four NFL players with known requests for a trade:

Jets S Jamal Adams

Jaguars DE Yannick Ngakoue

49ers RB Raheem Mostert

Browns TE David Njoku

Each of the first three would also likely need a new contract in a deal.

If that is the case then I don't find that unreasonable considering the year he had.
Sure, he can make an argument and ask...but that doesn't mean the team doesn't have an equal or better argument to not.

RBs (and in some ways all non-QBs) don't want to admit the new reality of their position. Now that you have seen all of the issues with the Gurley and David Johnson contracts, it will be rare that a smart team is going to lock up any RB long-term, high dollar contract. There is an argument to be made for drafting a RB every year just so that you can let the one you have go as soon as he is ready for a new contract. Much better to draft one in the 2nd round than pay one 8 mil per year for 5 years.

Look.... I know it's a gamble. But since the cap is such a fluid thing anyways...

How about this:

NYJ get Budda and our 3rd
Jags get our 2nd
Browns get our 4th

None of them are even 26 yet and we make a huge leap if we can find the future cap space for all parties involved.

Now with that being said, please hurl your fruit and vegetables at the wall behind me.
