For me it's always tough when we lose, and tonight was no different. I know our offense was great and our defense was terrible. But, when thinking about our D, I realize that outside of Andrew Billings, we probably won't see many of the D guys, even next week. Next week should give us a better idea about the defense. Fingers crossed.

Guys I want to know more about / see more:

Andrew Billings. not a peep about him during training camp, but goodness -- a specialty run down player, but its always good to have one of those

Jalen Brooks- promising

Reggie Virgil-- i thought he was great. Fluid moves, good hands. Late in the game on a third down: catches a come back short of the sticks, subtle side step to make the CB miss, gets the 1st down. made it look easy.

Honestly, given our low expectations for this season (and, let’s face it, for most seasons), I’d be okay with our being an entertaining team even if it only translates to 4-6 wins. Under Gannon we were bad and BORING and that made us, IMHO, a real drag to watch.
A few people have mentioned it on here , but a season consistently good offense even if it is inevitably negated by worse defense can be a fun watch and still get you a top 10 pick.

This game reminds me of last season. Seems that last year after scoring or tying up the game, the opponent, at or near the end of the game (or end of the half) would find a way to score. And it would usually start with a kickoff that went into the end zone allowing a start at the 35 yard line.

I was only able to watch the highlights so I'll state that upfront. That being said, Beck played very well and this was the exact reason I didn't understand the push to give Jacoby more money. There is really no reason for Brisset to play any meaningful snaps this season. He is not going to win us enough games to be anywhere close to the playoffs, and he is absolutely a 1 year option, if he's the starter in 2027 we have completely bungled the QB thing.

If there was fear about starting a rookie in game 1...Minshew is here and is actually a better QB through is career than Brisset....but the real goal should be getting Beck enough playing time to evaluate him properly this year and let him improve. It's rare, but not impossible for a 3rd rounder to walk in and be "the guy"...but the ones who have have come in and started early (russel wilson and Dak come to mind).

Sitting Beck on the bench while we go 3-14 does absolutely nothing positive for this team.

What?

You are drunk WC go home.
I don't drink but apparently you do. The point is you're overly negative towards the team cuz they cut your boy. Let it go.

Give these guys a chance to show you who they are instead of assuming. You admitted you didn't even know his game and yet called him a dud.

If you call every draft pick or FA the cards get a dud, you'll be right about 98% of the time unfortunately. It's not like going out on a limb when you come back to gloat.

This is a good sign no matter how you cut it.

You want him showing out in this game. Shows the game isn’t too fast for him.

Remember what Tune looked like against scrubs
Completely different situation though. Tune was a run and gun QB from Houston and never seen an NFL offense. Beck has basically been playing pro ball for the last 3 of 4 years. I still only see him him as a possible back up in the league but he gives us hope that we finally found our diamond in the rough. So there's that.

Yeah, Tune was in that great line of Houston QBs like Andre Ware, and David Klingler. Set and/or broke multiple college records but did not pan out in the NFL.
