The Atlanta Braves are among the teams waiting to see if Detroit moves Tarik Skubal or Casey Mize, per @Buster_ESPN

“Atlanta's farm system is in better shape to put together an offer for Skubal; the 23-year-old JR Ritchie could possibly anchor a deal.”

Ok let's cut to the chase. If you are expecting the Diamondbacks to be big buyers at the deadline and go get a bat, starting pitcher and closer you will be extremely disappointed. They will absolutely rely more on the quality players coming back from injury like Justin Martinez, Michael Soroka, Jordan Lawlar and Corbin Burnes then trade deadline acquisitions. For one there is not a game-changing bat in the market. But more importantly because of a record payroll the Diamondbacks are only 6-7 million UNDER the penalty! The Diamondbacks, like the Suns not going into the second apron, will absolutely not go over the luxury tax. It would cost them somewhere around $30 million to go over and not qualify for the money the 8-9 luxury tax teams are paying with redistribution. I have mentioned possibly being a buyer and seller and that could help. But just know if you add a player whose salary is 10 million for this season ALL 10 million counts against the competitive balance tax not the portion the acquiring team would have be required to pay. So, barring a trade that would free up money I just cannot see them adding any player making over 6-7 million UNLESS they move out some other salary. The good news is they do expect to get some very key/important players back for the final 4-6 weeks of the season.

Luis Garcia Jr. has just been pulled from tonight's Nationals game.

There has not been any removal of players yet from the @Aces and @sodpoodles game. Will be on standby if anything occurs, though!

If you disagree, attack the post, not the poster. Rule 101 on this site.
Certainly. I said what I said because that's what Torey and the Front Office say every year. And yes, I disagree with that statement. Getting players back from the IL is not like a real trade. When players come back off the IL, how many times do they get re-injured and go back to the IL within a few days/weeks. That's why it is different than a trade.

Multiple teams have engaged the Seattle Mariners on a potential trade for right-hander George Kirby and get the sense he is available and could be moved before the Aug. 3 deadline, sources tell ESPN. Mariners have been listening on starters Emerson Hancock and Luis Castillo, too.

I’m not one for conspiracy theories, but when the dodgers are able to get one of the best pitchers in baseball for a bag of sunflower seeds, then it’s fair to ask questions
