The Cardinals were 1-11 under Brissett.
It wasn't on him alone.

Everyone was pretty much in agreement that the offense looked much better under him last season.

When your defense is giving up over 30 a game it's hard to win.
Not to mention a decimated o-line no running backs.

He’s almost certainly the worst starter in the NFL. But no one took me up on the argument that we should have brought in Trey Lance/Zach Wilson/Will Levis.

I get that everyone wants a long-term answer at QB, but sometimes those aren’t available. Lots of folks here stamping their feet and balling their fists because we didn’t…???
Sure ..any of those three would have put us over the top.
Are you for real?

The Indy game? The L?
320 yds ...2 td 1 int 89.2 rating?
Yay!
It’s more than what you can expect from the worst starting QB in the league.

320 passing yards per game would’ve been the most in the league by far last season. 27 ppg would’ve been top 10.

Maybe if the defense hadn’t surrendered 31 points we would’ve had a chance on the road. Definitely Jacoby’s fault the defense surrendered a five-minute, 66-yard drive to lose the game.

I'll ask again, who is the QB that we will draft next year to take us to the playoffs?
Is the QB the ONLY reason keeping us from the promised land? If drafting a QB next year takes us to the playoffs, then by all means, start Beck, let's stop complaining about the defense and the Oline.
SDG, I'm not advocating for us to be a playoff team even next year. We have a lot of holes! We are still hoping the defense comes alive with young guys who were previously injured (several of them) and we still don't know what they can be. On offense, we still lack a solid right side of the line. And, we have a kicker with a bad back so that doesn't look promissing either.

We need to start finding players that will become dominant for 10+ years and it all starts with the QB.

So are you saying Wilson and Levis would be a better option to what we have now
Better? I don’t believe there was a better option available. I think they’d be different.

Getting a worse version of Jacoby Brissett in Minshew doesn’t do anything.

Getting Lance/Wilson/Levis gives us the chance for some Sam Darnold/Baker Mayfield renaissance.

Jacoby Brissett got himself a $10 million raise, negotiating the deal himself, but serving as his own agent cost him sleep.

The Cardinals quarterback said the stress was limiting him to three hours of sleep a night.

“It’s your livelihood; it’s business; and it’s part of this game,” Brissett said Sunday, via Darren Urban of the team website. “You want to be out there with the guys and that causes another stressor. I’m glad it’s over with.”

It took the entire offseason, which Brissett skipped the voluntary portion of, and into training camp before Brissett got what he wanted. The team’s presumptive starter was scheduled to make a max $5.39 million in 2026, with only $1.5 million guaranteed.

“It definitely got dark a couple of times,” Brissett said.

He said wanting a raise was about “having respect for yourself.”

Now, he begins the process of winning the job. He is the favorite, but coach Mike LaFleur has promised only that Brissett will work with the starters on Tuesday. Brissett will have to beat out Gardner Minshew and Carson Beck to start Week 1.

The hard part, though, is done.

“After the sleep I get tonight,” Brissett said, “I’ll go back to three hours of sleep for work purposes now.”

He's competent enough that you can run the offense we want to run.

I'm glad that we signed him. I think going with Minch for a bit and then turning things over the Beck would be a horrific experience.

I don't get why it took so long to get this done. That is the embarrassing part.

These counting stats are fairly distorted by the fact that we couldn’t run the ball at all.

If you think Jacoby is going to play among the top 15-20 QBs in the league, you’re likely to be very disappointed.
To be fair, was it his fault they couldn't run the ball? Arguably, if they could run the ball his stats would have been better. Teams wouldn't have been able to put more nickel and dime packages out there against the Cards.

His efficiency stats would have been better (they were awful). His counting stats would have been worse.

Just like it’s unlikely that Wilson piles those yards late in the year if MHJ were around.
