Brian Gregory joked that he was at the Backstreet Boys concert in Las Vegas during a night off when Miles Bridges gave him a call and asked if he could use the practice facility and get a workout in.

I think the Suns (Brian Gregory and Miles Bridges) handled it well, but I wondered to myself, how often does a player have to repent?

He plead no contest in 2022.

Gregory is an interesting guy. I don’t think he thinks that he is that much of a smart guy. He doesn’t feel he has to outsmart everyone. He just makes the best most obvious choices. I am thinking primarily of the draft.

But he also knows what kind of team he wants and is building that kind of team without apologies. He is not trying to win every trade, he is trying to build a roster and a culture.

I am still not completely sold on him, but we have certainly had worse.

As far as the PC goes, I think it went about as well as we could expect. Not sure what else I could have expected except to maybe say, “I know in my heart I have been a bad guy, and I am going to counseling constantly because I have to be better. I have been making great progress but I have a lot farther to go.”

We traded away a pick that could potentially be the #1 pick, it could go anywhere in the draft, we're desperately banking that we're a good team in 2033.

The pick we got is leveraged between 4 teams and we get the last bite at the apple, almost a certainty to be a late pick. The pick we got, in trade talks, is utterly worthless.

The pick we traded away is solid gold. A future pick with no protections from a team with an extremely leveraged future.

Of note... Miles Bridges is a pending unrestricted free agent.

So, along with mortgaging our principals and our future, we're also about to give this guy a big contract.

My guess is 30-40 million a year... for a PR headache who's never made a statistical positive impact on a roster.

The Suns couldn't talk until it was official. The league has some outdated rules about mentioning other players under contract and that held things up here as the free agency moratorium and then Summer League took precedence. In today's 24/7 news cycle though it needs to be fixed.

I understand that, and I stopped making comments about them until the PC was allowed. But it's still my issue and, IMO, the front office should have been better prepared for the initial backlash. They could have fed unofficial info to Gambo like they have so many times before.

Anyway, I'm comfortable with how they've handled it recently but I am still a little curious as to why they pursued both Peat and Miles? Bridges is the better player right now and will be for at least a few years but there isn't much of a gap. And I don't think it will play well if Peat shows out in limited minutes and doesn't slide into the regular rotation. And with this roster, I just don't know how Peat gets his minutes. Same with Goodwin and a few others.

To me, the only reason this trade would make sense is if it really was the best way to re-gain flexibility. And I'm not sure I believe that but who knows.
