It looks like Mexico is showing the US how to NOT play against Belgium tomorrow. They have to be incredibly disappointed.

you can't exactly riot when you were up a man for 40 minutes - england just took it to them on their own grass - lannister is so good

Well, I watched my first game, and I admit I was cheering for England (78% per the DNA test), but I never expected an actual victory. I thought Mexico would dominate.

England played great a man down. Mexico had no ideas other than launching balls into the box. England were inviting them to do that. I thought Mexico played great but were not clinical and Pickford robbed Raul Gimenez of what looked like a sure goal.

Mexico just seemed sloppy compared to earlier games. I know playing a high quality opponent doesn't help but I didn't see the confidence. It was more like kick and hope something good happens.

Yeah I thought before the red card mexico were fine. They just got sucked into a wide game when England put all their defenders in the box. The penalty to go down 3-1 killed them. That can’t happen. Gordon was hustling but Mexico just had 2 or 3 moments where they switched off for a few seconds and it really hurt them. It’s a simple game at the end of the day. If you score 3 goals on 4 chances you will usually win.

At least in the stadium it looks like the crowd has risen to the moment and is losing with class. I am far from certain they would have treated a US team as nicely.

Ok, now how about US - England in the semis? All we have to do is beat two top ten teams to get there. :biglaugh:
Tomorrow is gonna be fun. I can’t imagine that game being as good as this one was. We’ve had some great games. I’m loving this World Cup.

Now that is a clear red card. He went high and fast with studs up. He had a lot of time think about that.

Shows how little I know about soccer rules. I thought this one was less clear than Folarin's because the English player got the ball first but I watched an explanation and then read in the Independent and htey both said the same thing the England one is a clear red card because even though he got the ball he came in spikes up. Folarin made contact with the spikes but they weren't up it was a flukey land his foot on the back of the guys legs.

Note the explanation I saw said they were both red cards, but the English guy was more obvious.

Certainly wasn't a star but the 17 year old Mora I thought he held his own today? Played 60 minutes, a few times got overpowered a bit but didn't seem to be in over his head. At his age I was pretty impresed
