He needs to be more active and aggressive. Slash to the hoop or drive, don't live and die by the three. Get in on the offensive rebounds. And yes, work on his handles and some kind of shot between layup/dunk and three.

His shooting form is OK, the rest is mental when he'd nail 1 and shoot airball 3 times in the same game.

I think it still needs a lot of work, he holds on to it slightly too long and ends up flipping it out of his right hand. And his left hand isn't doing anything, he's pulling it away too soon for it to be able to guide it, look how high it is.

Ryan Dunn loves playing next to rookies Khaman Maluach and Rasheer Fleming.

“I love it. Playing with those two, they give a lot of life and youthful life. They stepped up a lot from the start of the season till now… Man Man, he’s coming in here, confident, talking a lot, shooting, you have the size and athleticism. I think it’s kind of scary, me and him on the floor together, defensively… I hope we can grow and get better through our careers here.”

I don't believe hes improved so much as he's made it back to where he was when the season started. It's better than how he played the last 2-3 months but he needs to keep it up and build off it.
Yes the recent benching probably helped light a fire, but to say he’s a rising star, he’s far from that.

sophomore slump? i dunno
new defense/coach? i dunno

ryan dunn flew into our living rooms his rookie year - literally - windmill style but it was also the defense and extracurricular energy he brought putting us all on notice

but the suns were all kinds of funked up when he and oso arrived - abysmally dysfunctional - nurk's saying bud was a drunk - idk but it sure would check some boxes

in comes ott - suddenly dunn isn't asked to be a lock down go around screens primary defender - ott doesn't want defenders he wants unison

ott prefers a murmuration when it comes to defense - it's confusing for some like nick richards - he never could stay with the group making us easy pickens

oso more than got it - he enjoyed it but dunn... i think he thrives on excitement - with dunn always wanting to make the play he sometimes found himself out of place

not to mention the 3 ball - if you're not shooting around 38% in todays nba you aren't 3andD - you're a roll player coming off the bench

dunn needs to master ott's system - knowing where to be at all times without hesitation and he needs to straight murder from 3

I think Rasheer does everything Dunn can do, but better.

I think if we end up keeping Royce and Highsmith, it might be really hard for Dunn to get on the court - so if we can turn him into a pick that turns into a center with upside, I kind of understand the thinking.

I would rather trade Royce though.

I think Ryan is more marketable than Royce. But I agree about rather moving Royce. I also understand that Fleming is a bigger better version of Dunn. So I can see moving Dunn.

Dunn's problem is his D skill development is underwhelming, and with Fleming needing court time, it'd be better now to sell Dunn while still valuable for some teams.

The only problem with Dunn versus Highsmith, Royce, etc, is those other guys are more towards the end of their careers. If you can still develop Dunn, you have youth versus guys who will only be here a few more years. At some point we have to be in the game of developing players. We can't just keep filling the team with journeymen smallish players for their positions.

There is something we are missing about Dunn, from Bud and Ot to seeing him play less and less. He's cheap, he's got a motor, provides effort, and young. I'm not sure why we should move on from him so quick. There's not guarantee him improves, but there's no guarantee we get something back with those attributes.

Dunn needs to start to develop. He will not start ahead of Dillon, and he should not start at PF ahead of Fleming, who is bigger, a better shooter, and as versatile as a defender. I like Dunn a lot, but I am just looking at the roster and well,

Dunn's problem actually is, that he is not smart on-man defender. He cannot control his speed laterally and get outplayed too easily. PUre athletism can only get you so far.

I actually agree with this. He pretty frequently finds himself outta position by over pursuing. His value is passing lanes and recovery blocks.

IDK if anyone put together a montage of the recovery blocks that Fleming had this past season, but no one on the Suns could have made them. The combination of speed and athleticism on them was top 1 percent NBA. I actually think he's better than Dunn on those.

This should be the year we find out if the front court of Dunn, ManMan and Flemming will work. I believe they should dominate the second units with Goody.
