We were 7th in passing and imported a playcaller with the most efficient system in the league now. Our offense was bad because our running game was butt, and we added a top-shelf RB prospect.
We were 7th in passing during garbage time.

9 of garbage QBs tuddies came in trash time down by 90 pts.

Stop quoting stats to me as if games weren’t over by the start of the 3rd quarter.

85% of active posters here will watch more Minnesota games than our games most likely.
Two of my favorite players (Larry Centers and Anquan Boldin) when they left i didnt follow nor did I care to watch Patriots or Ravens game just to Check on them. I bleed red and white I don't have another team I root for.

This guy nails part of Kyler's failed development...all you have to do is look back at Kyler's attitude from 2021...

“I think I was blessed with the cognitive skills to just go out there and just see it before it happens,” Murray told the New York Times in 2021. “I’m not one of those guys that’s going to sit there and kill myself watching film. I don’t sit there for 24 hours and break down this team and that team and watch every game because, in my head, I see so much.”

We were 7th in passing yards last year; how much meat do you think is left on this particular bone?

The Cardinals were forced to pass last season. Passing for the sake of passing doesn't always translate to wins.

Now a running game and passing for effect, could be a totally different matter.

I’m not counting the TDs; I’m only worried about the yards.

The raiders were down all the time and they ended up 28th in passing yards. The Titans were down all the time and they were 30th in passing yards.

We have a guy who can pass the ball; we have dudes who can catch the ball and sometimes do something with it after. We have an offensive system that has proved durably efficient over the past half-decade or more.

I don’t know why you don’t think the offense can be in the top third of the league outside of contrarianism.

Okay but do you think they’ll somehow have more passing yards? I think they’re gonna have less passing plays in general and both McBride and Wilson are likely to struggle to get to 1k yards.

I'm not worried about stats if the offense is effective. Stats are a byproduct. They will take care of themselves.

He had to, he was too short to see it with his eyes...

I appreciate the fact that you only root for the Cardinals! But, as a Cardinal’s fan since the early 60’s, I would have tuned out the NFL long ago if I didn’t have a team to “somewhat” root for when the Cardinals were eliminated from playoff contention by week 8 for many of those years lol. Once the Cardinals were eliminated, I did have some teams that I liked:

Raiders of the late 60’s and the 70’s under Madden

ANYONE playing the Steelers

I actually liked the Niners during the Montana era when they would routinely beat the Cowpukes.

The Rams when Warner was there & the Cardinals were still in the NFCE.

Less passing plays...yes, I agree because we'll have a running game
But if we "struggle" to get McBride and Wilson 1k yards, MLF failed on scheming for the offense. IMO

My brother.

I dislike every other team. If it were possible for the Cardinals to go 20-0 and for every other team to be 0-17 that’s what I would wish for.

Yeah I don’t know why Dov is trying to pin this on Kyler. I’m sure Kyler isn’t the coolest hang either.

Yeah as I said we were #1 in the league in passing attempts and McBride and Wilson got 162 and 126 targets respectively. That was 3rd and 12th in the entire league in that category.

Last year in LA Puka had 166 targets and Davante had 114. Rams were 5th in passing attempts.

In Coach Good Hang’s final season in San Fran they were bad at QB (6-10 season) and no one had over 100 targets (Kittle only played eight games).

As I said, I expect a more efficient offense with significantly more runs. The average offense last year had 545 passing attempts. Houston ranked 9th with 582. I don’t anticipate that Wilson and McBride are going to get a combined 53% target share.

And hopefully two good pieces on the o-line, one in FA and one in the 2nd round.

But the D has ZERO chance of to even be merely bad. I think they will be abysmal.

I expect the offense to be in the top third of the league and hope the defense is in the top 25.

There just nothing there. We’re basically hoping that a few of these guys end up being at least starting-quality players:

Max Melton
Beej
Darius Robinson
Rabbit

You can probably add more names to that, but at least the first three need to prove they’re not bums.

I only watch Redzone in the morning so I guess how often I see Kyler will be on how often he is in the red zone

I was with you up to here. We were 7th in yards but first in passing attempts. That’s a combination of bad game scripts and no talent at RB.

I’d be quite happy if we were 11th in total offense and like 8th to 14th in passing and rushing.

I’m in no mood to see Jacoby do his late-period Kobe Bryant high volume/low efficiency thing for another year.
More from an efficiency standpoint than raw volume stats. That said, I think the game scripts will still be poor due to the defense.

I think you are going to still see a pretty condensed target group. Probably will be more split between McBride, MHJ, Wilson and Love vs just three last year. I don’t think 3500 passing yards is silly. Then it’s more of how do you want to break them up. Despite the volume last year, AZ was still at the bottom in yards per attempt, air yards per attempt and yards per completion. Those are the area where you hope to see improvement.

As for the running game, the Cards had 4.3 yards per attempt as a team which was 19th. Have to hope that can bump to 4.5 which would have tied for 10th. Maybe that generates better yards per play because of more favorable down/distance situations.

I am about as low on Kyler as anyone, but this is embarrassing for JJ. You gotta have a little more nuance than that dude.

If that is his mental approach, for real, then he better rip that job away from Kyler. Otherwise, it comes off as pouting and sour grapes, which I suspect it is.

Also, Kyler answered the same question, in a typical Kyler way...

xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media

"I'm considered a veteran even though I don't see myself as that"... he's kinda half aware that he has zero leadership qualities, but at least he still halfway gets to the canned answer a vet should give.

I feel like most guys, that have ambition in the league... any real competitive nature, would view themselves as a "vet" after ONE year of being a starter, forget 7 going on 8.
