"READ THE ROOM"

what a horrible thing to say
indicative of the core decay of our society

that someone would say such a thing in a public OPINION forum of any kind

the implication is that we should all "adjust" what we say to
* comply
* not challenge
* not encourage others to think for themselves

don't air your opinion if it doesn't align with
* the majority
* the status quo
* the company line
* the group-think
* the ruling government
* the dominant religion

as is the case for Suns Fans
and Americans in general

we are used, we are abused, and that's why we lose

we surrender our critical thinking to that public spin, company line
despite it being against our own best interest

the public stats were always our there to be seen
regarding all matters
but we denied the evidence of our own eyes
and trusted what the profiteers told us

in this case
that DEVIN BOOKER = THE SUNS
that THE SUNS = YOU
and criticism of Devin Booker is a challenge of your own self-worth

here's a clue on how to shake that "loser" mentality...
it's always about the team
and their is NO OTHER TEAM

i notice you said "READ THE ROOM" in the Political Forum too

and now

to go along with your other favorites GO-TOs like, simply...
"WTF"

and the other greatest hits of others like, simply...
:lol:

now, here we are a full decade after one player was so over-hyped and spun that every other player and coach not him, was scapegoated and removed to preserve the myth

despite his flaws and limitations repeating over a span of thousands of games
-- over 200 hours observed each year
by your own eyes

and when questioned about that, you reply

"dude"
behind your dark glasses
and "better off silent" motto*

This is such a silly thread, but I guess it’s a good spot for people to just vent their frustration with each other.

This thread was peak hilarity in the beginning when he only talked to himself. I'd love to see it happen again. I'm all about an offseason of silence in hopes we can get him talking to the walls again.

excellent. no need to hurt anyone's feelings. so...

Why would Suns corp sign Booker to one of the largest contracts in NBA history if they knew he couldn't carry the team?
money, of course

But the Suns would stand to make more money if they were winners?
that's a long-term plan. Very few business do that anymore (see big biz's approach to the long-term risks of climate change and a.i. development)

unlike other bad-decision-makers and empty-staters like Russel Westbrook, Booker has appeal. Still moves tickets and merchandise. It was simply a better business prospect to stick with the product they developed, rather than lose the fan base with a full rebuild. Hope they got lucky by building a competitive team around him. And they DID. The new coach and defensive philosophy worked -- for half a season until the return of Booker Ball. Instead of being the 8th casualty of Booker's ego, the new coach complied.

What happens now?
the core fans will forget, like they did the debacles that ended with us losing 4 in a row to the Bucks, then collapsing to Dallas. 10 playoff game losses in a row, now. The coordinated spin of the Suns radio and TV will do its thing, as usual. There's always some stats to cherry pick.

Suns corp, however, knows better. They have a decision to make. The illusion is visibly cracked. Booker will NOT make the All-Star team again. Defenses know he is totally manageable/stoppable. The suits will have their calculators out. How much longer will fans buy into this charade? Is there another market that would bail us out? He'd look great in a New York jersey?

by the end of next season, they'd have to give away assets to unload him and his contract like he was Bradley Beal

you heard it all here before:

yesterday, Stephan A Smith ranted about Booker being too rich, comfortable and complacent in Phx. He doesn't have the drive to chase a ring.

today, Bickley ranted about Booker being a Robin, not a Batman
i said that years ago.

hear me now, believe me later:
by next year Booker will be closer to making his 70 mil and look more like Alfred than Robin

Not suggesting Book is much more than what we’ve seen… but, next season with be his 12th and only the second time in his career where he’s had the same head coach in back to back seasons… That’s nuts.

and it's no coincidence

Ott knows he'll be the next casualty if he doesn't "play ball." Booker Ball

it's a fundamental quagmire.
Booker is
* a defensive liability
* a crunch-time, decision-making, ball-handling/hogging liability
* a weak 3 point shooter
* a weak leader
* not good under pressure

all the things you need to will a team to victory in the most crucial points of a game

but any coach, including the prior 2 coaches who recently won CHAMPIONSHIPS, cannot run the team as they know best and manage Booker's ego and the ego of his fan base at the same time

yeah, but who'll be the girl crying? We'll both be stuck with a perennial loser -- blowing games in the last minutes. But at least i'll be dunking on you with "i told you so" for another 5 years

all the way to that 75 million salary you'll be paying for with your Book Shoes and T's.

you and the other Booker Bros are your own worst enemy. Life-size Book bobble-heads.

even Dan Bickley is talking about Book being a "made-man" just coasting on his cash thanks to the fans who consider him untouchable

You can't make the mistake of falling in love with your own players.

There's always a time when you have to make difficult roster choices and you can't limit yourself that way.

I remember this same stuff being said when we gambled everything on Kevin Durant's bitch ass.

No... at some point you realize that high risk gambles are really freaking stupid.

if you really have your heart set on selling and trading used books i'd highly recommend Changing Hands - it's a great shop and you'd be supporting small business - win win

also, who wants a Book with a stupid, repetitive story that always ends the same -- bad and disappointing

"The reality is he has come up short in big playoff moments time and time again, and even in the regular season his mistakes can outweigh the scoring numbers. I don’t care if someone scores 100 points a game—if they turn the ball over, get rattled, miss free throws, and make careless decisions, it hurts the team. Defending that kind of play is accepting a losing mentality, and that mindset is exactly why some people never understand what it takes to win a championship." -- Arizona Sports poster

devin booker (only) has roughly 1,471 days remaining on his contract
just think of all the nights you'll get to see him score 24 points, lose games, flub seasons, and burn through coaches

the real upside for you is that you should be up to Book 6 shoes by then

BOP, here's what i like about you:
unlike others, your trolling is not focused on attacking the messenger. You defend Booker because you like Booker. You buy into the image, the shoes, the cherry-picking by the media, because it serves your purpose. In your comic book world:

* Superman doesn't have to beat Lex Luther.
* the National Basketball Association doesn't have to be The Justice League of America
* if the local media tells you Booker = the Suns and Robin = Batman that's good enough for you, even if the games and seasons end in collapse and disappointment

you may not be old enough to remember the days when our Suns stars were both scoring heroes and game/team winners

and you're not alone. a substantial portion of the public loves to be lied to. Newscasters and influencers tell and sell news like it's Coke vs Pepsi. They create a narrative, get celebrity endorsements, and sell us the package (full of sugar and chemical inflammatory agents that are horrible for our health and well being). It tastes good. Or at least, our team/tribe says so. So we swallow it down.
