I'm going to assume MLF is more than onboard with this so I'll give it some room to run but definitely don't love it on its face. I don't think we're necessarily lacking starters but we're lacking *good* starters and those are very difficult to find in the 3rd round so I can see this being a bit of roster construction factoring in.
Cosign.
If I was going to be okay with Ty if MLF signed off then I will do the same for Beck. I feel a bit dirty for saying that.

This doesn't make sense because by this time next year how are we going to know if this "works out". He's not going to start 10 games and give us a definitive answer one way or another.

Obviously I'll root for him, but the timing doesn't make sense.
I don’t think anyone is denying that they reached by a round but he would have to be incredible to “win” the job going forward.

He really didnt
He did play well in the playoff run last season. I’m not a big fan of his but he did! I bashed him the whole season & told him during the CFP watch the Cards will draft him.

I’m pulling for him to prove us wrong. The only reason he was drafted is because the Lambs took Ty whom they obviously coveted

For all y'all saying to still take a QB next year in the 1st...Who? None of the names thrown around are gonna do crap, especially Arch. He's pure pyrite! Beck has just as much of a chance as any of them to succeed. He's big, has a ton of experience and has won a lot of games. He may have been an cornholio at one point, but things I've heard and read seem to point to a kid who may have started turning a corner at Miami. Even if he is still an cornholio, he's our cornholio now, so I will give him as much support and a chance as we have K1. If he works out, he works out...if he doesn't, he doesn't.

TBH, I'd rather just roll with him and see if you can get a conditional 8th rounder for Brisket.

Well, my feeling is, after reading all the negativity on this pick is, we have two (3?) backup qb's on this team right before this pick. ML, I assume, was at least in favor with this pick. I would think that means he might have a shot at being the starter this year?
As well as JB played last year, he was 1 and 11.:(

We are all a bit torn here.

Y’all say we will be lucky to win 5 games. Y’all say we’ll get a qb in 2027.
But deep down inside Y’all are hoping beyond hope we can compete this year. And by taking Beck means it’s one less piece to work with this year.

Did you think anybody we took in the 3rd round was going to be a future cornerstone? Probably not.

So answer me this.
How many of you think Beck will be our starter in game one?
How many of you think , to hell with it,let’s roll with him on opening day.
How many of you think Brissett gives us the best chance to compete in 2026?

So Monti took a big swing. There are some ( including Warner) that think he has what it takes.

But we all know better than Warner.

You are correct, sir. However, in all fairness this was the MOST INJURED roster in the entire NFL and all season. Heck, they were playing practice squad guys and street FAs. The question should be, how much more competitive would they have been if key guys had NOT gotten injured? We'll never know. But I'll work on doin better.
I dunno. I guess the scouting staff is also responsible for building depth on the roster so that the entire team doesn’t go to pot once Mack Wilson Sr and Starling Thomas V go down?

ML liked this pick a whole lot more than McVay liked the Simpson pick... lol

I'm so over Brissett. Let's sink or swim with the other quarterbacks if he wants starter money.

Here is why:

The 2027 class has TEN QBs who have higher draft ratings than Beck, who was fourth in this class.

Let's not act like last year was a fluke. This regime has had a 3 win and a 4 win season in 3 years. The team's been running on journey men quality talent for the started with no depths. There's a reason they were playing practice squad and street FA guys. At this point they have not shown that they know how to properly construct a roster or draft.

That same website had Shaduer Sanders as the 2nd ranked QB last year. Hahaha

No big deal to gamble with the first pick in the third round? It is for a team like the Cardinals who are trying to build a competitive roster. It was no big deal when we didn’t do much in free agency as well. It will also be no big surprise when we continue to be at the bottom of our division.
