KJ had been a finalist in past years, though his support fell off some in recent votes. But with pretty light competition this year, I have to think both he and Stoudemire have a pretty good shot. I would take both over Blake Griffin. I think Buck Williams and vet committee pick Marques Johnson are both likely, too.

As for D'Antoni, it's interesting to note that he's nominated as a "contributor" and not as a coach, which probably helps his cause. I assume they are noting him for his contribution in the European leagues more than the US. Strictly speaking, he's not a HOF worthy candidate just based on his NBA coaching career.

Not sure I agree with this. His 7 seconds or less essentially begat modern basketball

Amare, in the time of Dirk, Duncan, and Garnett (then Lebron & KD) was a 5-time first or second teamer.

And I'd put his top 3 to 5 seasons up against anyone at the position. Especially his playoff performances. If it wasn't for his damn knees...... He would have been a top 15-all-timer IMHO.

What an electric, and magical time to be a suns fan when he was healthy. Truly deserved IMO.

Man, this is worth watching for a reminder of what we had. A surprising number of power dunks in a Knicks uniform too. We should have never traded him.

Based on his last playoff series before microfracture I can only imagine was those next few years would’ve been like without injuries.

Amare is well deserved!! Elena Delle Donne is interesting because she only played 8 full seasons and Lyme disease shortened her career. She took 64 pills a day while playing so she could have the energy to play. She did all of this while being the the primary caregiver for her sister Lizzie who is blind, deaf and has cerebral palsy. That was why she asked to be traded to Washington.

Some folks out there hating on Amare making it. 5x all pro in the Duncan/KG/Dirk era and missed a full year in his prime.

Won Rookie of the Year over Yao, who was an All-star. He was sort of the DBook to Nash's Chris Paul. He did a lot and maybe the team would have been good without him but he helped make them a legit contender.

Plus it's basketball HOF and not limited to NBA. He had some good years in Israel playing after his NBA days. Not that that holds a lot of weight but it does help more than being a bench guy who didn't play much in the NBA.
