We will have a player at our pick that other teams will potentially want and we have lots of holes. Monti loves trying to outsmart the draft. We need players.

Not what will you do, but what do you think Monti will cook up?

If Monti wants to draft a tackle, he probably can drop to 10th or 11th. If he wants the edge guy, he’ll probably have to stay in the top 5. No idea what he will do, but for me I’d trade down to about 8th and draft a tackle.

Let’s see—-he traded down and we gave up a top 5 pass rusher and got a decent not great LT that we had to trade back up to get him—and we also got what so far looks like a complete bust of a DL

then we trade back and pass up copper de Jean for a borderline starter CB and a blocking TE

So no trade back for me—I want to see MO actually take a stud—he has yet to make a decent trade back and this year there are few studs to go around so no—no—no trade back

I think its about a 75% chance we trade the pick.
there are only a couple guys near worthy of the third pick and none of them line up with "Positional Value"... so Monti either has to "reach" or trade the pick.
I would take Love...run it up to the podium so fast the ink would get on the commishes fingers cause it aint dry yet.

But Monti wont do that.....

so Im guessing we trade back to around 12...then trade back up into the top 10 to pick an OT

thats Mo's M.O.

Well the stick and pick hasn't been great either. Stout and Cbus would have led the assault on Monti if we didn't take MHJ and that hasn't been great.
Maybe the issue is Monti but if IIRC most of the board wanted MHJ.
I just don't like the "thinking" that since a trade back or drafting a ILB didn't work before we should never ever think about doing it again.

Less than 50 50 but not zero. I doubt there will be a compelling offer in which case we should draft Love.

Take Love and add some pizzazz to this offense. Take a tackle in the 2nd. Better yet, sign a damn rt and open up the second round for BPA.
As we get closer to the draft Simpson is going to move up the board.
By far the best RT available in free agency right now is Jonah Williams.

There are any where between 6-8 OTs predicted to go in round 1, there probably wont be any viable starters left by the time our pick in round 2 happens.

We can take Love, but the trade off is we will have putrid RT play. Here's the 2v2 in my mind. We either have Allgeier at RB and Mauigoa at RT or we have Love at RB and Wilkerson at RT.

disagree.
There is usually a run on OT's in every draft... but expecting 7-8 to go in the first round is a steep expectation.
However,...even were 8 to go in the first round...at 34 we could get a strong prospect because there are close to a dozen RT's in this draft.

nobody worthy of the top 10.... but lots of guys worthy of 25-35...
so if it looks like there is a run that may gobble up every good tackle prospect available... you get on the horn and trade 34 and a fifth to jump up into the late twenties and pick your guy.

the best part...is that evaluations are all over the place...zero concensus on who is best and who is fifth...so even if we pick the 7th tackle off the board we may well get the best,...or a top three, tackle from this draft..
.
Big Max from ASU would be my pick...IMO, 5 years from now he will be the best RT to have come out of this draft....
I made that same prediction a year or so ago in regards to Amarius Mims...so far he hasnt proven me wrong, lol.
But Big Max has valley ties...so he is like a home town kid even if he didnt grow up in the valley....drafting him will drum up some buzz locally and extra fan support as his college buddies share excitement over him getting drafted local.
mike is all about buzz..and excitement,...and fan engagement....drafting Big Max from ASU can get him all of that.

I say 25% because I don't see any trading partners. Wish they would stick and pick Love. But state media has been dumping ice water on that notion.

I would say 100%, but I actually think he’s more likely to take an Ohio State player at three than he is to trade down.

Honestly when I run simulations, I would love for the Cowboys to want like Reese and to trade their two #1s for the Cardinals pick.
I would need a lot more. Starting with a 2027 2nd rounder and negotiating from there.

MO definitely wants to trade down. Whether he gets a trade partner is the story.

I'm a always trade down person

feels like 10 is the place where the perceived talent drops a tier, so thats a resistance line

but if someone in the teens wants to give up a ton of picks, including premium 2027 picks to get to #3, that works too

the next GM can make good use of those
