We have a top-heavy roster construction philosophy, 2-3 stars followed with medium to bottom type role players with specialties. This year we are lucky Brooks and Allen stepped up as kinda goto guys behind Booker, who could semi consistently create offense on their own. In stark contrast, OKC has every rotation player except for Dort and Joe with at least decent off ability, notably Mitchell, McCain, Wiggins and Caruso can all create some on their own no worse than GAllen. What we have is Ott's system that gives us a chance to beat team with not so good defense like the Lakers.

Kinda what happens when most of your roster are top 10 picks.

OKC only has two top ten picks: Cason Wallace (#10) and Chet Holmgren (#2).

Luguentz Dort, Branden Carlson, Buddy Boeheim, Kenrich Williams and Alex Caruso were undrafted.

It looks like the Suns may still intend to sign Jamaree Bouyea to a standard contract.

Gambo said it took so long because they were letting Anthony's agent try and arrange a trade. The Suns would have then bought out Anthony. It would have saved the Suns a bit of cash, but not a huge amount according to Gambo.

I can see why the Suns were hoping he would accept a buyout, but the trade deadline has long since passed.

It may not have been a trade. It was to let him find a team to take him. I may not have the proper wording, but it was similar to what we did with Beale. Or I may have heard it right, because sometimes Gambo gets the process or wording wrong.

Sounds like the former, Beal type situation. Likely was a buyout also considering we were very accommodating. At least you'd hope he sacrificed a little something for that.

I can see this happening. My guess is the Suns were hoping a buyout would save them some money.
Plus they were letting him try and find where he wanted to go, and control his destiny, rather than just randomly getting picked up.

I released this news when we made the trade.

is he that bad?

No, I think some team will add him to their roster after clearing waivers.

Unfortunately, point guard is not a huge need for the Suns.

The Phoenix Suns are signing two-way guard Jamaree Bouyea on a new two-year contract, sources tell ESPN. After two-ways and 10-day deals with six teams in 3+ years, Bouyea earns a standard contract, averaging 6.5 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists in rotation role for the Suns.

I expect the Phoenix Suns to sign PF CJ Huntley on a two-way contract in the next day or two. Huntley is averaging 14.8 points and 8.4 rebounds for the Valley Suns this season.

Bouyea and Huntley would both be good signings, but I hoped for something more in the FC department.

we're going to be so ready for next year - idk if huntley will make it as a rotation player but there's only one way to find out - technically there's only 22 games left to find out

between our injuries and consistency in the teams right above us reality is starting to set in

we may only be 3 games behind the 2nd seed but the west isn't funking around this year - the wolves nuggets and rockets are the only one's moving up and down on the board

we're only 2 games behind the lakers aka the 6th seed - 6th seed means avoiding the play in but if we get our rookies some quality minutes and experience that's everything - hoping we can do both but we'll see - and the play-in could be good for us

I think Huntley might be ok filling out the 'break glass in case of emergency' role on the FC side if that's what ends up happening.

I think the Suns signing CJ Huntley (24) to a two-way contract will pay dividends.

IMO, he has more upside than Isaiah Livers and is younger. I like how the Suns are planning ahead for next year's roster.
