I was caroling at church Sunday and the above line hit me. My question is are you seeing what I’m seeing? With slight alteration came my thread title. What I think I’m seeing is the team is going backwards because players are not learning or they are going backwards skill-wise.

Look at DTD. I’d swear he covered and tackled better when he got to AZ. Sure he wasn’t starting, but in his limited time I thought he played well. Now I watch him miss tackles and be out of position on pass plays.

It took massive injuries for Wilson to get targeted more than once or twice in a game.

I’m also seeing players who looked great in college seem oddly ineffective at best in the NFL. Harrison would be a key example. He never had a drop problem in college except in one aberrant game. He was a big play receiver, but can’t make one for the Cards.

Take Burch. A uniquely skilled force of nature, both in college and the preseason. Now you rarely hear his name. Browning is seldom useful. Why isn’t Burch getting the experience? Who’s the future?

W Johnson was a major turnover factor in college. He has no interceptions this season.

I could list more but I don’t think injuries are the only reason the Cards are pitiful this season. There is virtually no player development. That’s coaching and game planning. This staff has failed totally to put a competitive team on the field. More importantly they’ve failed to get the most out of healthy players. They should be let go.

I’m not sure I agree with your premise — that a great college player will be a great pro player — but I do agree that the Cards’ problems are likely coaching or lack of it. When the new regime came in, I seriously thought we’d be in the playoffs year 3. But here we are, year 3, and we’re farther from the playoff than we were last year. There doesn’t seem to be a strong team in the near future. So what happened? Drafting? Coaching? Injuries? QB? OL? I’d like to give the coaching staff one more year, but would we be right back at the same spot this time next year, asking the same questions? I’m beginning to think the answer is: Let’s not rerun the same script again.

You're seeing DTD go against the most lethal WR paring in the league

Wilson has been buried on the pecking order for targets ever since MHJ was drafted. This staff is heavily invested in giving every MHJ every opportunity to look good. We also had a QB that never made it his 3rd read in 2024.

Harrison has been awful from game 1 with stat trackers noting he had the slowest top speed of any WR ever recorded in an NFL game. He got shut down by Max Melton in college and both have been awful, frankly most drafted DBs MHJ faced in college shut him down (5th round pick Cam Hart). He was overhyped because he broke out as a sophmore and is 6'4. Stroud made him look better than he was making big plays happen on scramble drills. Even Stroud noted on draft day that Harrison mainly caught with his body.

He hasnt actually had a lot of drops for us, his drop % is the same as it was in college. He's just had a lot of passes that would have been completions if MHJ was as good as Larry or Hopkins. Cardinals fans count those as drops, stat counters don't.

Burch was 3rd round pick for a reason, lethal in preseason means absolutely nothing.

I don't understand why you people are still watching these games while we're in tank mode and playing with half the practice squad. It's just making you all angry.

Funny you say this because I was talking to a friend about this earlier in the week.

Bottom line is…coaching matters, schemes matters & this ENTIRE staff has failed miserably in years 2 & 3 imo. Too conservative & too passive.

Scared, conservative & passive football in this league is losing football & doesn’t work at this level.

Fire them all & good riddance

we're not winning - why should i have to run across the field to make a tackle the last guy missed? why should i fight through this double team when he's about to throw it anyways? why care about my responsibilities when others are taking the day off? why bust my ass and risk injury for this injury riddled ass team?

that's what I see

There was a Tune sighting the other night.
Did he look like a guy who deserved to start? When I checked the box score he was 0-2 with an INT.

FWIW I thought Tune was always likely very bad and the enthusiasm about him here was deranged. I dunno if he was offered a spot on the practice squad here and said no or the Cards just weren’t interested in giving him one.

Either way, not great.

My concern now is can the Cardinals really get a quality coach to come here. Forget about Bidwill, just consider the many holes in the team with no decent starting qb. We are back where we were when MO and JG took over and maybe actually worse.
That’s the part that makes me sick. I knew we were bad three years ago when the MO / JG era started. Now we seem to be even worse. This team has so many issues its depressing, with no hope in sight

Well I mean this is what happens until you find the right staff.

Arians was here five years and Mikey got jealous. Whis was here six years. Some of yall just like to whine.

Michael probably cut bait on Kliff a year early.
Ya, Trace McSorley was about to break out

Here is a short version of what's going to happen in the off-season, there will be many changes, players & coaches, then comes next season & we still suck, sad but true.

I can’t stand passiveness. Go out a be aggressive.
I get back to signing Kubiak. He is going to be highly sought after. Why can’t we be the team that gets a guy like this?
We are consistently the organization sucking hind mammary gland.
