Appreciate your insight,Harry.
So I’m guessing you want a guy that has experience as a head coach. On the other hand that person would have been fired at least once for one reason or another. I’m certainly not going to eliminate him based on New Orleans. As far as a “ strong arm qb” to succeed well we might be waiting for years for that guy to come along.
Ben Johnson never was a head coach. I believe Kubiak has been around long enough to attract a good experienced DC. So there are pros and cons of who would be the right guy.
Bottom line it doesn’t matter if the organization isn’t going after the brass ring right from the get go. The Bears GM who hasn’t been the greatest went out and fixed the biggest problem they had, the o-line. He didn’t do it with a 5th round “ diamond in the rough”. He signed Tunney(sp) who’s going to the pro bowl. Their center is also going to the pro bowl.
This organization consistently plants seeds hoping they grow and develop. That’s okay. You need to do that. But then there are glaring needs that you simply can’t wait and hope they blossom before their time.
If we were aggressive and lucky I believe we could actually compete for a wild card.
I refuse to believe we can’t fix this offensive line IMMEDIATELY through free agency and this draft.
At rb there are a number of VERY good backs available in free agency.VERY GOOD. It doesn’t mean Connor has to go but he can’t be depended on as our featured back. We certainly can’t count on Benson or Demercado, Bam, Carter or Kiner.
We need a blazing Wr that could actually force a defense to worry about. Not Zay Jones or anybody currently on this roster.
We have great tight ends especially if Rieman returns.
Now the elephant in the room. QB. If everything surrounding the qb was improved, could Brissett be adequate. Could a QB like Nuesmier(sp) be brought in a nursed along with a strong supporting cast?
Here’s the real problem. This organization will once again be passive in the off season. We don’t have the balls to trade a guy like Baker, our yearly Pro Bowl consolation prize for picks. We won’t sign the best o-lineman in free agency. We’ll sign the best “ value” guy. You know, the one coming off a down year.
I guess the Bottom line is the head coach won’t matter if it doesn’t start at the top.
