Yeah I just happened to watch some of that game and the Worthy kid is electric with the ball in his hands.
121 yards of offense on just 8 touches. Wow!
I'd kill for us to have a WR like that!

That's why I want Zaccariah Branch ex USC now at Georgia. Not as good as Worthy but the fastest kid in college football. Still not sure he's coming out this year having a better year but not projected in the first 2 rounds so probably stays in school.
Ran a 10.33 100 meters as a soph in HS, his dad is the sprints coach at Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas, his grandfather is Cliff Branch the ex great Raider Wr. Also long jumped over 24 feet. Old time Cards fans remember Mel Gray the ex Missouri star, that's who Branch reminds me of.

It seems you believe that Murray can not realize his potential with the Arizona Cardinals, and the Cardinals are not going to change to fit Murray's style of play. Don't you think it is best that Murray be traded or released for the betterment of both? I think you and the "hate Murray fans" are saying the same thing.

A non local reporter had to break most of those stories. Bidwill is either the most powerful or second most powerful man in AZ. He is a close tie to Michael Crow.
I mean, I said Mahomes had declined for the 2 seasons before this and that demonstrably true in his statistics. Despite in his last great year also having poor receiving options with the likes of MVS, Juju, Hardman and Watson. Reading is hard.

... Except he had 66 yards per game from week 11 onward last year, and he was injured 80 seconds into game 1 this year, so his 121 yards this season came in 1.02 games.

But he's twitchy right? That's something that I think we need more of in our WR room. Like the Lockett kid used to be for SEA.
I think we need a WR that can make a move in the open field and then run away from people.
Anyways... five days to Sunday.
People have been saying for years that Kyler needs big receivers. They drafted Mike, Marv and signed Zay Jones. Now he needs faster, twitchy receivers.
Kyler can't hit the receivers he has, not sure adding faster ones will make much difference.

What makes a guy like Worthy enticing for OUR offense is we have no deep speed at WR, none. So teams can play their safeties closer to the LOS knowing nobody is going to just run by them. It impacts our entire offense. Mahomes told everyone who would listen after the Ravens game how huge it was for them to get Worthy back because teams have to account for him. First game and he had a near 40 yard reception and a 37 yard run. We don't have anybody like that, Dortch is supposed to be that guy but he's not.
Wilson is our best deep threat but he's nowhere near as dangerous as Worthy
That's not remotely how the Chiefs use Worthy. That's more how they use Thornton.
And it wouldn't make any difference, when we had Hollywood here I recall more interceptions trying to hit him deep than receptions. Brown's ADoT here was 11.5 yards, Marv is average 12.9. Mike Wilson has a higher aDot than when Hollywood was here with 11.8.
Kyler's accuracy deep has been dogshit since 2021. So we don't throw them much.

I don't know what happened but I haven't seen Kyler throw a ball that looked like this for years. The only one I remember is the shot to Rondale Moore vs the Texans in 2023.

I thought this from Sharp Football really summed up the issues. A dink and dunk QB that pads his stats with easy short to mid range passes that wilts on 3rd downs and in the 4th quarter, and sucks downfield.
The 2024 season was a Rorschach test for Kyler Murray.
He completed 68.8% of his passes for 7.1 yards per pass attempt with a 3.9% touchdown rate.
All of those were highs since 2021.
He had the highest success rate (48.4%) of his career while posting the lowest rate of plays that lost 1.0 EPA or more (14.6%).
He played every game for the first time since 2020.
While he played better football than in recent seasons, there was also a lack of upside.
He finished 14th in EPA per dropback (0.09) and 27th in the rate of dropbacks that resulted in a gain of 1.0 EPA or more (21.6%).
Downfield passing and third down performance were thorns again for Murray.
On throws 10 or more yards downfield, he was 22nd in rating (82.3), completing 47.8% of those passes (21st).
Over the past three seasons, Murray has completed 44.3% of his throws 10 or more yards downfield, which is 29th in the league.
On throws 20 or more yards downfield, Murray was 33rd in rating (57.2).
Kyler Murray has thrown 68 passes of 25+ air yards the last 3 years, he has a completed 12 of them 12! His 17.6% comp rate ranks #41 of 41 QBs, his ranks of 41 QBs on passes 25+ air yards last 3 years:#41 in EPA, #41 in success, #41 in YPA, #41 in comp %, #35 in accuracy.
This passing game struggled the most when the opponents knew they had to throw.
Murray completed 59.6% of his passes (20th) on third downs.
Long down and distances were an Achilles' heel for this passing game.
Murray only had 7 passing conversions on third and long (needing 7 or more yards) over 17 games.
That was the same number as Michael Penix (3 starts) and Dak Prescott (8 starts).
He only had one more than Deshaun Watson (7 starts).
Murray was 28th in rating in the fourth quarter (77.2).
He had a 1.4% touchdown rate in the fourth quarter last season, the lowest of all qualifying passers.
Trailing in the fourth quarter, he dipped to a 76.4 rating and a 0.9% touchdown rate.
He has not had a touchdown rate of 4% or higher in each of the past three seasons.
Some of that falls on the design of this passing game when it is forced to play out of structure, but Arizona is still looking for him to move into the front-end tier of his position.
Arizona is committed to seeing if he can get there.
Murray is signed through the 2027 season with a club option for 2028.
