So if he declines, he can extend again? If he extends again, we can assume for greater than 33%?
It gives Booker an out IF he wants to go elsewhere. IDK if there's some shenanigans with the salary cap if it is a player option versus a guaranteed year?

Also, I assume all this angst about Booker's salary goes away if we miraculously win an NBA Championship?

IIRC, Austin Rivers was supposed to come to the Suns in a trade, but he ended up elsewhere. No love lost here.
I think he was the player who refused to report to the Suns. We traded him since he didn't want to be here.

Yeah, but I think there might have been something more to it. It may have been a more mutual parting of the ways.

Anyway, I agree with the thought, the Suns shouldn't want any player that doesn't want to be here.

2018 were some dark times, so maybe some advisement from his dad or something to steer clear from the suns at that time.

But its okay as i've never heard good things about him.

That is weird. I remember at the time, it was Al McCoy commenting that Austin didn't want to play for the Suns, so they waived him. They didn't even try and trade him to get anything for him.

The James Jones way. Why try and turn a player into an asset when you're the GM when you can waive them.

Wont matter. It starts at the top.

I agree. We don't know who Ishbia is though outside of being impulsive. He was sold on KD as a flashy move right when he took over and if it worked, he'd start the best tenure of any owner since Jerry Buss. Obviously it didn't work and we're in this mess but how he digs himself out will define this team for the next decade. Now we need to see him build a team. Cuban tried similar stuff when he bought the Mavericks and eventually learned. We need to hope Ishbia will also and that it won't cost us a prime Steve Nash for him to learn.

The moves made under Mat Ishbia have already cost us dearly. It's a lengthy list looking at players, draft picks and coaches.

The Mavs instantly became credible after Cuban took over... I like Ishbia’s relentless to spend but he’s shown us who he is to this point. Lots of big name moves, ill-fitting rosters, coaching turnover and internal drama. It mirrors Dolan’s Knicks when Isiah was running things. Some of it is bad timing with the CBA restrictions. If Ishbia took over when Sarver did it’d be a different story.

The draft picks beyond the KD deal are what are most troubling and doesn't give a lot of hope. He's played fast and loose with our assets while kicking the can down the road. Eventually the bill needs to be settled and I hope he quits delaying that. A pick now won't change our fortunes and shouldn't be thrown away to win 35 games instead of 31. He's started to show some patience and I hope he stays the course.

Mat Ishbia spent his way into this. He needs to spend his way out.

We will see how the current cast works, but the money needs to be spent on an elite GM, head coach and most of all, scouting.

The Suns calling card should be they have the best scouts in the world, not just the NBA.

Then he needs to leave them alone and let them do their job.

The elite coaches didn't work. He just hired a new GM. You're going to have to get over that. And our scouts have been very good the last three drafts.

I don't see this any different than drafting player or signing free agents. Sometimes you don't get what you pay for. Doesn't mean you don't stop trying to get the best people available, regardless if they are players, coaches, scouts or other front office folks. Sometimes going after up and comers is definitly an option too. Ishbia should take whatever competitive advantage he has and use it when he can IMO.

As far as I know, that's what he's doing. I guess time will tell. I thought BG passed his first test pretty well. And we have yet to see Coach Ott in action. Hoping for the best.

I was at the Mercury game tonight, and they announced Coach Ott at the game, and there wasn't barely any applause. It came off as an awkward moment.
