In case you haven’t been paying attention, all that matters to MOJG are WINS. All they care about is having one more point than the opposition.
Ok...that doesn't make Kyler a better QB. That doesn't mean he is improving. It doesn't mean he is consistent. Eventually, if wins matter, the Cardinals will determine whether or not they can win multiple playoff games with Kyler at QB. When they see they can't, they will move on...because wins matter most.

This year we will know for sure. And if not, surely after 2026 we’ll know for certain. Then we’ll give him one more year.

I do suspect the franchise might make their mind up on him this year.

I do believe MOJG have faith in him right now, I don't think that's an act, but faith is easily lost. Especially when your own jobs are on the line and you're entering year 4 of a rebuild.

Kyler missed a bunch of year one. He got some leeway in year 2 because he was still only 8 games into a new scheme and I'm sure they told themselves he still wasn't 100% after the injury and he had a rookie WR1 learning the ropes. He's out of excuses this year.

I think that if he has a similar year to his last 3 years (same flaws in his game, poor in 2 minute drills, craps the bed in the home stretch) they have to strongly consider moving on for their own sakes. Even if we back into the playoffs and he craps the beds again. I'd be amazed if MO isn't already planning for it.

Its the Geno Smith decision point:

in SEA the consensus seemed to be he was good enough to get around .500, but not good enough for better. And that was with a better overall set of skill around him / but worse O Line than what Kyler has. The $ issue forced a decision in the org.

if the Cards go (lets say) 10-7 but loses uncompetitively in the playoffs and Kyler asks/demands a big raise -- it will force the same decision point.

Of course, its easy to get rid of a QB -- WAY harder to replace with a clear upgrade. Is Sam Darnold a clear upgrade to Geno? Im not sure.

He hasn’t had a legit WR1 since the first 7 games of 2021, but somehow he’s out of excuses lol. The 2024 schedule was rated the most difficult one towards QB’s last year. Can we at least see how much MHJ has developed over last year before we tie all our failures to the play of the QB? And let’s see if the defensive line can perform better than a JV high school team this year before we pin all blame
again on the leader on the offensive side of the ball. And also maybe the defense this year won’t rank almost dead last in creating turnovers?? A lot of questions not related to Murray need to be resolved before MOJG legitimately considers dumping him.

Exactly. No one thinks Kyler is a bottom of the pile QB, but anyone in their right mind questions if he will ever be anything more than he is right now. What he is heading into the season isn't good enough. He's basically the current Pittsburgh Stillers standard--just good enough to sniff and maybe sneak into the playoffs, and nothing more.

The problem with this theory is QBs like double A-Ron made his receivers better. All his number 1 receivers were crap once they left the Packers. It's a long list to look at. The only exception might be Devante Adams, and even he is iffy. Rodgers made them all a lot of money in free agency.

Nope, everything has to be perfect for a QB to succeed, didn't you know? :sarcasm:
