Will our QB finally get the monkey off his back?

Will our QB finally start to respond well in big pressure games?

Kyler will never be an elite QB in the same category as the top 4.

I believe/hope the better defense, the dominant run game and having two great targets in McBride and MHJ will elevate his game to be at the level of Baker in Tampa - a top 7-12 QB

Can the monkey throw past 10 yards? If so, keep the monkey and let him throw the ball.

Voted no. ANyone thinking otherwise is deluding themselves. When has a starting QB shown major improvement in year 7 or later? Not in results, but in technique and ability? I'm guessing never?

There are guys like Geno Smith that have had late career booms, but that was likely already there and he just never had the chance to show it. How many starters have got better in year 7?

Even if you can think of an example the odds are extremely low. He is what he is, and what he is is lacking in anticipation, lacking in height/vision and lacking in diagnosing defenses and lacking in pocket presence. Very little chance this changes at this stage.

I liken it to good QB's who shrink in the playoffs. There have been many.
It just hits kyler sooner. My hope is the defense can drag him past it and once the damage is broken his inner competitor takes over.
For two recent and well known names that got past the issue just look to Peyton Manning and Carson
Based a sample size of 1?

For the first time Murray will have a defense and a good supporting cast on offense so to me this should be his breakout year. I expect a playoff team and a win this year in the playoffs. The last two years Murray has mentally looked better and appears to be ready to lead the team.

What’s tiring are the whiny cryers like yourself that are now on page 204 of a thread designed to bitch and moan about our franchise QB.
You understand that is how discussion and debate work, right. People have different opinions. So, a thread was created for people to discuss and debate the QB of the team. This is a different thread but the point remains. And crazy that I have a consistent opinion over multiple years instead of yours which magically flips every year just to have you crash out at the end of another disappointing season like the message board version of Charlie Brown getting trolled by Lucy year after year. I am optimistic about the team this year but I also recognize the history to the franchise and expect them to prove it because they haven't earned the benefit of doubt. I personally don't care who the QB of the Cardinals is as long as it translates into wins. I have no personal feelings for Kyler. I feel no need to cape up for Kyler Murray, he doesn't need me to do so. He will show what he is on the field like he has every season. If he plays well, I will acknowledge it. If he doesn't, I will be critical. Btu by all means, continue to lash out at posters who want better QB play because you can't figure out another way to process you feelings of disappointment.

This is a very fair post.

Quick answer is “no.” The theory of Kyler Murray will always be better than the actuality of Kyler Murray. He simply doesn’t have the intangibles or the smarts to play the position. He’ll always be an athlete that can play QB as opposed to a QB who’s an athlete

Very true & has been my point all along. Murray has had a very small margin for error because our defense has put him in positions where he literally has to score on every possession in order for us to win. Outside of the first 7 games of 2021, that was especially the case. And as a result, Murray was a leading MVP candidate during that stretch. Unfortunately, DHop & both the defense & offensive line were decimated with injuries the rest of 2021. Fast forward to the JG era & no QB is in an ideal situation when the entire roster is gutted and you start literally from ground zero. The D was better last year, but it still couldn’t stop the run against legit teams & they they were near the bottom of the league in creating short fields for the offense. And people forget that Murray hasn’t had a legit WR1 since those first 7 games of 2021. We’re all praying that MHJ is that guy, and I do believe he will be, but he certainly wasn’t last year. Many on this board want to say that I make too many excuses for Murray, and maybe I do. But, an honest assessment is that he truly hasn’t had the firepower on either side of the ball to show his true value. There’s a reason why MOJG vehemently defend Kyler……it’s because they know I’m right. If MHJ is truly what we hope he is, Kyler will have a great season.

I want this to be true in the worst way.
Im on the record,..Im out on kyler. But I started this poll with a "yes" vote because its what I want to happen more than anything.
But my 50 years of football experience tells me kyler is a QB that has to be carried by his team...and not the QB that can carry the team on his shoulders...although we have seen him do it in small stretches.

so I remain. The voice of hopium and vibes. Gently cleaning my hematoma covered scrotum as I prepare it for the next ************.

JFC really?? D.o.n.k.e.y. P.u.n.c.h. is starred out?? WTAF guys?

Verifiable hyperbole. Over the top hyperbole. I should know; I'm the resident hyperbole master. Like, I'm perfect at hyperbole :D

I recall a large number of games where our outgunned defense kept the offense in games and Kyler just couldn't get it done. One specifically, he literally threw away. Somehow you actually believe it's unfair to judge any of Kyler's play against him because it's always someone else's fault. But you hyperbolize you, PA!

For the crowd who thinks Kyler cannot be judged on past performance because he hasn't had a perfect team around him, well, you are all clearly judging him to be at best a mediocre QB. Great and very good QBs can and do elevate their team, often. Kyler doesn't.

Sorry not sorry that I'm out on Kyler. Were he a day 2 or 3 pick, I'd be a lot more lenient. As a 1st overall "generational talent" pick, he stinks.

65 votes in. Over 80% of the board has taken a position. Of that group,...two thirds feel the position is next to hopeless and Kyler Murray will not develop further.
...among all of our "feels"...we have 14 guys who are either too exasperated to hold a position any longer...orr they are just honest men...

Will our QB finally start to respond well in big pressure games?Edit

I voted no. I would love for the answer to be a resounding "YES!" but I can't overlook 6 years or proof that he...just...can't...do...it.

As always, every year, I will be pleased as punch to be proven wrong. I'm still waiting...

No disrespect to you, Oaken, but I’m not understanding the point of more Kyler threads when there is already a stickied Kyler thread.

somebody in the stickied kyler thread requested a thread with a poll...since polls cannot be added to an existing thread.
so I provided a thread with a poll.

I said I don’t know because I don’t.

I remember when Kyler was drafted I heard comparisons to Micheal Vick. If KM’s career surpasses Michael’s I would be pleased although I wasn’t a fan of Michael Vick.

I just want the season to start…

I think it’s gonna be the same old same old.

While 100% healthy, he’s going to look above average and occasionally dazzle, but as soon as he gets nicked up a bit he’s going to be well below average and largely ineffective.

The "idea" of K1. Haha. Love it.
