Well, this looks like a developing story

I am sure Suarez, who has to be forced to take a day off, wasn't happy about this when he was the big name being shipped out.

IDGAF, either. Get a better manager who will actually hold everyone accountable and then see how he reacts, if it's that big of an issue.

For weeks they (Gambo and Bickley) have said Torey isn't making these decisions. They come from above him.

So someone above Torey has given Marte the ability to sit Marte. It's either Hall or Hazen.

The entire Marte situation has been odd and I don’t really know what to make of it. I felt like last winter would’ve been the perfect time to trade him had they been frustrated with his methods but they extended him.

That tells me it is Hazen that is allowing all this.

Yea… this is seriously sucky:

Guess we will see how many days off he gets forward. I will say this makes getting rid of Torey even more difficult without moving on from Marte as well. No manager is going to come in and want to take the heat for upper management

If either Kyler Murray or Devin Booker pulled this crap they would be the most hated person in the valley

Over the last 162 game span Marte has hit 48 home runs as a second baseman. How many second basemen have ever hit 48 home runs over ANY 162 game span? Only 1 in all of baseball history, Ketel Marte.

IDK, Marte has figured out what it takes for him to be arguably one of the most productive second basemen ever. If he needs days off just for mental reasons, yet he can be this productive, I don't see how you can argue with his success. Heck some pitchers won't pitch without a certain amount of days rest period.

One of the logical fallacies is to assume something is always going to happen based on previous data. Hell, every stock market video I ever watched says past performance is not a guarantee of future success. Maybe playing more games would actually drive his production down, not up. Sometimes guys just need a break to get going again.

Some of those teammates need to think about how they think of Marte. I'd take hime over a guy that played every game but had half the production of Marte. It is a team sport, but you have to have guys that can win you games. Marte is one of those guys.

I like Marte. I guess I am just a homer after seeing him win so many games for the Dbacks.

This right here is why Marte can take days off

Still doesn’t sit right with me… but you’re right, as is Torey when he compared the situation to what it’s like raising kids. You don’t treat them all the same…Hard to retain equity and fairness across a family or a team when you treat members of the team/family different from others… but, such is the reality of pro sports.

Agreed. But I think the bigger issue would be the lack of communication.

That either speaks badly of Ketel or Torey that the break was not clearly communicate communicated

If Jake McCarthy can hit 48 home runs in 162 game span then you can take a day off what he wants.
