Milwaukee waiving Lillard to sign Turner is crazy. 113M stretched over 5 years = 22M per year dead cap, + 26.75M for Turner's deal.

Hmm. The Suns are faced with the same problem, but I have mixed feelings about them doing that.

No they really aren't.

Booker seems determined to stay in a worse situation. Giannis has already wavered.

Not to mention Giannis is a much better player.

I'm talking about the financial situation, waiving and stretching Lillard.

I thought it was all but a done deal with Myles Turner staying in Indiana. That hurts them significantly.
Does it really? They were already screwed for the coming year, and it's not like Turner is young or particularly impactful.

Oh well, it would be stupid if we do it too.

And it's not really the same situation - Beal can still play for us this year if we let him.

It was reported in the media over and over again the Pacers were willing to pay the luxury tax to keep Turner and the core together.

Now they aren't? It's kind of shocking they changed their stance.

Denver's done a great job retooling this offseason. Jonas is a legit backup big that they've been missing for a couple seasons now.

I don't think it is. They were willing to do it before Halliburton was hurt - now it will likely take him 2 years to get back to form and they are no longer realistic contenders.

There used to be such a thing in the NBA as trust and loyalty. See Danny Manning injury with the Suns.

Yeah, that is a solid move. They had a big hole behind Jokic, he can fill it for a few minutes at least defensively.

Jonas Valanciunas will help the Nuggets. They are making some moves to get better.

The Bucks keep adding to their team. Now, Gary Harris is to sign there.

I suppose nobody will necessarily sign Damian Lillard, because he's injured, he's old, and I understand he plays no defense. No reason for the Suns to want him.

It's tempting for the minimum, even if he is not ready to play. The Suns need to get younger, though.

Really? It's academic, but if Jerry Colangelo and Danny Manning committed collusion and rule-breaking to bring him to the Suns, do tell.
colangelo in back to back years made one year deals for Manning and AC Green with under the table agreements to pay them more the next year once they had their Bird Rights. If you don't remember this, and the NBA had to specifically change the rules because of the way JC abused the Bird Rule with wink win under the table deals, I don't know what to tell you.

I didn't have a problem with it - if you ain't cheating, you ain't trying, but trying to pretend Jerry was just benevolent and the old NBA was pure with this trust and loyalty, you're living in a dream land.

I just don’t see how the NBAs current model is sustainable. There are gonna be guys making 100 million a year soon and playing in about 50-75 percent of their teams games .On top of that the product on the court is harder and harder to watch in my opinion.

People had a respect for Jerry. They knew they could trust him. Jerry said, "Sign with us and we will take care of you." No specifics, just a promise they knew he would keep. It wasn't against the rule technically, but in spirit it was. They closed that loophole.
