Nah, there's no escaping the conspiracy garbage, we've seen this before even when it was done publicly. There are too many connections, too many coincidences and too many people willing to believe anything juicy. But yeah, we may all have to take one of those lifetime extender pills to live long enough to see this franchise win a title. Now we just have to figure out who sells those pills.
If you find them let me know. LOL.

The last time that Anthony Davis was traded- from the pelicans to the Lakers, the pelicans somehow managed to win the draft lottery, even though they only had a 6% chance and landed Zion Williamson.
Who they originally got with the #1 pick in 2012 after trading CP3. The league owned the Pelicans at that time as well.

Stuff like this right here is a big reason why the NBA is my least favorite pro sport and I'm checked out on it most of the time.

The idiot Mavs stumble into a guy who looks like Luka with a work ethic.. unreal.

It's better to be lucky than good... way better.
Thought the same thing. Back asswards into the top pick. GM for Dallas is the luckiest person on earth tonight

I know it's easy to point to the draft lottery and say it's rigged when things like this happen, but it's audited by a reputable audit firm, Ernst and Young who I doubt want to become the next Arthur Andersen of Enron infamy. Plus executives from the rival teams also witness the lottery process. The days of frozen envelopes are no more.

It sucks the inept Mavs leadership lucked into the top pick, but I was half expecting Houston to move with our pick and have that hanging over our heads for the next 15 plus years. There's still plenty of opportunities for that to happen in the coming draft lotteries.

NBA: Hey, we need you to trade Luka to the Lakers

Mavs: Are you kidding me? No way in hell

NBA: OK, we what if we make sure you win the draft lottery?

Mavs: Hmmmm... Sounds interesting.

The NBA is handing a Las Vegas relocation to the Mavs on a silver platter. What better way to have a team in Las Vegas with the #1 pick? Of course, it won't happen that fast, but it definitely does feel fishy to me.

almost looks like the fix was in...they trade away their star to a stumbling iconis big money franchise for next to nothing...and then miraculously win the draft lottery to replace their traded star
couldnt have scripted it any better

So Rick Welts or whatever his name is, is basically admitting that they f’ed up and now are getting a reversal of fortune. Why are these guys not fired?
The speculation is through the roof. I heard them say on a show the Mavs should explore or might explore a trade for Giannis should he be made available. This is going to be endless until they trade it or make the pick.

it doesn't make sense to trade for Giannis when you have three legit bigs. I wouldn't understand that trade unless they are somehow keeping the #1 pick or getting another player. but whatever, I don't think this mavs management knows what they are doing. I halfway trust Cuban because they won 50 games for about 10 years straight, but most of that credit goes to dirk.

I think the assumption is you would throw the old plan out the window and build around him.

Ha. After 50 years of watching this league in everything, the Durant Suns and this kind of stuff completely destroyed my interest. This is the first post I have made in months, and I haven't even followed any of it, its no longer worth my time.
