Ha. After 50 years of watching this league in everything, the Durant Suns and this kind of stuff completely destroyed my interest. This is the first post I have made in months, and I haven't even followed any of it, its no longer worth my time.

I never dreamed the Suns would get worse after Robert Sarver sold the team.

Not only that, they did in it one year and sold the future as well.

I still can't believe the mavericks got the top pick. it seems unreal. they were the worse team in the 90's and never got a top pick. maybe the league should go away from the lottery and do what the NFL does. or they could also relegate teams somehow, but IDK how you would do that. It feels like some cities can't get out of the cellar.

The lottery should definitely be adjusted. The old two team coin flip was definitely not good, but the current system allows far too many undeserving teams to have a shot.

Ideally, maybe it should just be the six last place divisional teams with no weighting. Then do a live drawing with an equal number of multiple envelopes (ten apiece or something like that) so you don't get the fishy "icebox" or "bent" envelope that happened in the Ewing drawing (allegedly). Just keep drawing until you get a unique choice for each slot, and whoever is left that hasn't been drawn is the number one winner.

Something like that would work for me.

They should weight picks based on the last 2-3 years instead of 1. That way tanking would actually hurt the teams who do it and teams wouldn't be inventoried to miss the playoffs when they're having a rough season, like this year's Mavericks.

Excluding play-in teams from the lottery drawing seems like a no brainer but the damage is now done as we just saw a play-in team win the lotto.

Maybe something like a 3 year running cumulative odds % average?

You’re not alone, the nba has lost a lot of people who are unwilling to just bandwagon to another team.

suns in 4 seems like a long time ago

I’m ready to trade book for Flagg. But I think that’s a bad deal for the suns.

The picks we are sending out in that hypothetical are all the horrendously leveraged trash picks we freed up by stupidly trading away our pick (with zero protection) in '31. Which, in terms of the logic behind it, is probably the dumbest trade of the last few years. It is extremely unlikely that any of those picks are within the top 20.

But they’re still picks. Have to find some nuggets to put around Flagg.

I know, but if Flagg is even close to as good as the hype, I don't think we should hold off on giving up what amounts to a few picks in the late 20s.

The bigger concern for me is getting a player of Flagg's potential, by giving up Booker, and leaving Flagg in an essentially hopeless situation for the next 4 or 5 years. We've been exceptionally fortunate to have a player with Booker's loyalty. While we could draft Flagg, be terrible and see him leave at the earliest possible moment.
