Rumor has it that they are shopping Collins.

I expect Sweat, Tomlinson, Nolen, and Robinson to start in base defense, while in nickel Nolen moves to 4i, and is rotating with Campbell and Stills at that spot.

Justin Jones and Bilal Nichols are rotating at the other DT spot in nickel.

Sweat and Robinson are the primary wide 9-rushers in nickel with Browning and Ojulari being the backups.

What rumor? Or where from?

How do you see Collier?

North of the 49th.
Given that our D-line went down like ten pins last season, I would expect that they will keep more D-linemen on the initial 53, subject to adjustment at some later point in the season.

I think this sounds about right. It makes sense bringing Campbell off the bench. He said he can give you 30 really good plays a game.

It is from Ran Charton (former Titans general manager). He mentioned it on a podcast.

I think he is out. I actually thought he played fine last season, but there has just been brought in too many upgrades. I see him as a fit in a 4i, but they will also have Campbell, Nolen and Stills for that role (and potentially even Robinson and Burch as well). What do you think?

Interesting that we finally have some depth and we want to trade someone

What could we get for him to make it worthwhile?

Draft pick would be low, so another players like a G?
I would wish to trade him for a WR (Christian Watson from the Packers, maybe?), but I tend to think that Ossenfort value picks too much. My guess would be a sixth rounder - maybe conditional to become a fifth.

What is your guess?

To start the year?

Sweat - OLB
Stills - DL
Tomlinson - DT
Jones - DL
Collins - OLB

Robinson and Nolen next on.
Forbidding any injury- if both stills and Jones are starting over Robinson and nolen I'm going to vomit. I get cycling nolen in the rotation to start, but Robinson got enough playing time that he better be able to unseat these dudes before game 1

Agreed man- would love to see a trade for a decent guard / WR.

That said would also like to get through training camp injury free before we give up a versatile back up like Collins

Based on what we have seen, I’m guessing Nichols goes before Collier. Cap hit and everything.

Couple of teams are paper thin at DT - Texans and Jax. Player for player with a WR is possible.

Decent players on the verge of getting cut usually gets you a 6th. Fringe players to secure depth a 7th.

Post training camp will tell.

Of the possible trade candidates, I think Stills and Sterling Thomas would get you a 4th or realistically a 5th. Both would be super back-ups for most teams with still two years left on a cheap rookie deal. Doubt Stills gets traded giving the age and contract situation with the other players at DT.

Could see a player like Burke “getting” an injury and be placed on the IR

Nicols is untradable unless we eat some of the salary.

It would have to be for a player and we are in need of G and WR

Both would make sense

Just have to make sure the young guys are ready to fill the void

There could be plenty of snaps to go around. Snap share is more important than who’s starting. Robinson didn’t show much in limited snaps his rookie season; Nolen has never played in the NFL. Why trust either more, at the beginning, then a three-year vet who’s overperformed?

Especially early in the season when there’s no real hitting and everyone is getting warmed up.

So Nichols is almost certainly gone past this year, followed by Jones likely as 2 lack luster free agency signings. If we trade stills, Campbell almost guaranteed to retire - that puts us on thin ice again at DT.

I say cut Nichols after camp, eat the dead money but at least keep a young, extremely cheap, and still developing stills on your roster who still has 2 years left on his rookie contract. Not a penny pinching strategy- but the best move for the roster/health of this team long term

This would be my guess as well for Nicols.

Not so sure about Jones. He has a 9M salary in his 3rd year. Given how the FA market for underwhelming DTs was this year, that is not that far off. He was a good 3rd DT with the Bears. I expect him to be better now he can slide back into that role.

keep all the murderers - it's our new identity - if someone has a banged up ankle we don't have to still play them 30 snaps - they can heal - quality and quantity

SMB isn't great but he isn't damaged goods. Watson both underperformed and tore his ACL at the end of last season. I'd be careful with that one.

Sweat, Robinson, Tomlinson, CC, Stills. Maybe see about getting that huge Elijah Simmons in on a few snaps. The previous DLs sucked so change will not be a surprise.

Nichols has $5.7 million in guaranteed salary this season. Michael Bidwill is not going to pay him that much not to play football.

Justin Jones has $8 million in guaranteed salary in 2025. The Bidwill family isn't paying him not to play football, either.

The only option out of either of those deals is a trade; maybe one where they eat 25-50% of the salary to make the deal happen. The Cards believed enough in these guys last year to sign them to those deals; hard to imagine that much has changed based on how little they actually played last year.

I know neither looked dominating in the time we saw them, but that's football today. Neither played much (if any) in the preseason, and there's little hitting in training camp. The line players take 3-4 games to adjust to the physicality of the game again. That's why the first few weeks of the season are so sloppy.

They are very different players, GC, and fit different roles on the defensive line. If they do let Nichols go, it would likely be for a guy like the undrafted Elijah Simmons who fits that role much better, but even though I like Simmons, that is probably unlikely to happen.

Oh, thank you for posting. However, since I wrote the idea, I looked a little into it. Watson injured his ACL late last season, so he might be out for much of this season. I haven’t really researched about other possibilities, but leading up to the draft I saw both Alec Pierce from the Colts and George Pickens from the Steelers being mentioned. Both fit exactly what I think the Cards need (a deep threat, big play-guy), but Pickens are allegedly a bit of a headcase. It’s just that I would like to see Ossenfort be aggressive going into the regular season. I think the team is ready to make a run, and a legit WR threat might be the missing ingredient.

Yes, exactly a Pierce, Pickens type receiver would be great or Watson in the right trade. Also another guard like Scherff or Hernandez for that veteran experience needed. Adams will benefit from learning, mentorship of one of those lunchpail guys that find a way to get it done. The NFL is full of those type of IOL guys. Watson is only 25 and one dresms he recovers and adds to his explosive stats. Except the Cards get 10 tds a year for the next 4 or 5 years. The Cards would go to the playoffs and GB would be kicking themselves for making a tough decision.

I 100% promise you the posters here have thought about this more than whoever put that together

That was there on day 1 of the draft I mentioned it after we picked Nolen. I have no idea who updates it but I mentioned at the time they had us in a 4-3
