Yeah the stats sheet never accurately reflected Draymond's value but his numbers (and his game) have been declining for awhile. Interestingly, though completely irrelevant to your point, he's had 31 career triple doubles, the entire Suns roster has only 18 total. And all of those came from CP3.

Personally, I hate the triple double nonsense. A player goes for 60 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists, 9 steals and 9 blocks doesn't even get touted for a double double but who had the best game - him, or the guy that scored 10 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and 10 assists? Oh well, it gives ESPN something to scream about and made Westbrook a legend so it must mean something.

Doesn’t negate what you just described but if we want to classify things gotta make demarcations somewhere and humans love numbers that end in 0. And a triple double is really just acknowledging that they’ve gotten a lot of assists and rebounds, which is an impressive feat.

I think the stats do reflect his game. What tells me that is when Steph and Klay were gone and it fell on his shoulders to be the man he failed miserably.

I remember saying Draymond was going to be the defensive player of the year and he turned out to be a disaster. He’s 100% a product of the system.

That’s when he got that triple single nickname from the TNT crew.

He’s not so much a product of the system but a perfect for their system/personnel. If he was a product of the system we’d see them churning out similar players. We don’t.

truth is no matter what the team says publicly, they could have been the ones to leak it. Doubt we will ever know.

I can’t stand Draymond the person but he’s one of the more underrated players in recent memory. He’s benefited greatly from playing with Steph but it goes both ways. When you have a big that protects you defensively that can also run point forward it creates a lot of shots. Go look at the impact metrics when the Warriors were at their peak and Dray is right up in RAPM. It’s too bad the guy is so insufferable because he’s a unique talent.

Westbrook gets such a bad rap. Say what you want about him but he proved in his prime he could carry and organization.

It was Westbrook who’s brain constantly broke in big games for the Thunder. Durant had some bad moments in the clutch but it had to do with missing shots. Westbrook was the primarily ball-handler and responsible for running the offense. He’s an insane competitor but low iq player.

If Poole filed assault charges he’d be done as a respected player in the league. In fact he would go to great lengths to not let that happen. His guns were down and he got smoked. Live and learn.

IMO Draymond is the second greatest role player of all time, trailing (by quite a margin) only Bill Russell. Bill was almost always the 3rd or 4th highest scorer on those teams but he impacted the game in so many other ways, like Draymond does. And like Bill, Draymond will waltz into the HOF. He won't join Russell in the argument for greatest player ever but he has had an elite career. And I still think he's psycho.

I don't know if it was recipe for success to have RW taking more shots than KD in games. It happened plenty of times.
Maybe the game plan was to feed Russ, but that plan didn't lead to a Larry O'Brien trophy.

Bill was almost always the 3rd or 4th highest scorer on those teams but he impacted the game in so many other ways, like Draymond does. And like Bill, Draymond will waltz into the HOF. Bill Russel won at an insane clip at every level and you think he’s a role player in the same category as Draymond. Seriously?

That’s the difference. Yes an important part but still a product of the system. Now he had the talent to take advantage but when Steph and Klay were gone and it was on him he was really really bad

Well that's a bizarre way to look at it. The man has been the consummate role player, like a Dennis Rodman only better. Would you have ripped Rodman if he couldn't carry the Bulls without MJ and Pippen? Green impacted the game in many ways that does not show up in the stat sheet.

I'm curious to know which organizations Westbrook has proven he could carry. Houston? Washington? Not sure he carried either one of those. OKC? He had Durant (and Harden). And certainly not the Lakers.

He's proving that he can barely be a complimentary player, let alone someone that can "carry an organization."

Westbrook carried OKC after KD bailed. He drug them to the postseason every season after KD bailed. They were a 55 win team KD's last season and a 47 win team sans KD. He followed that with another 48 win season and a 49 win season before being dealt to Houston. He went from averaging 23, 10 assists and 7 boards to 31 points, 10 assists, and 10 boards that first season without KD and averaged a triple double for 3 straight seasons.

And he did help get Washington to the playoffs, Houston was already a contender before he arrived. Washington was worse without him this year.

I agree about Draymond being arrogant and delusional which is why there’s always an ugliness to the Warriors dealing with him but they know he’s always been too valuable to trade.

He was arguably the best on ball defender ever but IMO Russell and Olajuwon both impacted the game more on defense. I'd give Dennis a solid edge on defense over Draymond but certainly not "light years better".

forget Steve Kerr, Green and others complaining about the leaked video, talking as if their privacy has been violated. It's not just up to them. The NBA, Player's Association, and Police have a say in the matter in regards to assault or any other threats and dangers to players.

the Warrior organization has a conflict of interest just as the Dolphin's did with their damaged quarterback. The result could have been the same.

and i know some fans have a casual "boys will be boys" attitude about things like this. But if, for example, Crowder walloped our 37 year old pg or superstar all-nba guard during practice and damaged their brain, or eye, or snapped a bone, i think they'd have a dramatically different take.

Well of course we'd have a different take if it happened to CP or Booker. First off, Green would have had to hop a plane and stay angry for 700 miles plus time lost dealing with the airports and local traffic. So, it would be premeditated and there'd be no excuses.

Seriously though, as it is, this appears to be about 99% Green's fault but we lack context. What did Poole do to set it off? Nothing? Or a lot? But no matter what Poole did prior, DG still comes out looking bad on this one.

Green was already pushing Poole backwards with his body before Poole tried to push him away. I don't see how anyone can put this on Poole as provoking the reaction.
