I must say that the Suns are giving absolutely no sign of feeling desperate this offseason. On one hand, that's encouraging. On the other hand, it's not, because it can equally be seen as no different from the players smugly blowing off their playoff humiliation.

No on the Conley trade proposal above. He's owed 2 years and approximately $22 million per year. That's too much for a 34 year old backup.


As far as the Dragic anecdote, I wish the interview was in English because something could be lost in translation. Dragic always spoke highly of Sarver everywhere, even when dealing with his trade demands out of Phoenix. This could easily be a case of Sarver joking around with Dragic because who wouldn't be glad to save $1 million bucks? Of course it could also paint him as a total a-hole, which he likely is but this case seems a bit overt.

What motivation does Dragic have to say this now? Seems odd. I believe he's spoken in Sarver's favor since the accusations last off season were levied as well. That makes these comments weird and I'd like to know the context of the story. Unfortunately I don't speak slovakian.

Yeah, I was qoing to quote that article, earlier this morning. Might as well mention what I was going to say. [sigh] Since he was talking to a European audience, Dragic was obviously not concerned with trying to rehabiltate his damaged reputation in Phoenix. Because if he had wanted to, bashing native players in the country where he made his fortune wasn't the way.

Since I'm supposedly good at seeing more than one perspective, here's another. I know perfectly well that Dragon is right. Very many NBA players aren't much more than raw athletes. None of them speak of studying and hopefully emulating the skills of Larry Bird, possibly the highest-IQ power forward to ever play but a physically unimpressive player.

According to Goran that was the moment he decided he didn't want to play for the Suns any longer. Sarver has proved he can be a monumental idiot through the years.

Dude is just burning bridge after bridge lately. That rich for him to complain about anyone being selfish though when he refused to suit up for Toronto.

Let him return to Europe. I don't believe he's signed anywhere for this season. I'm sure some will still want to see him in a Suns uniform but the dude is a clown.

I haven't known who the Suns assistant coaching staff is, and was curious to know, so I looked it up. https://www.nba.com/suns/roster

Let me get this straight: the Suns have eight assistant coaches? I assume that's not the way it looks--because otherwise what it looks is ridiculous. I suppose at least one of those guys is a minor league coach or something, but that still leaves seven. Why can today's coaches not manage with only two assistant coaches like the coaches of my youth?

No offense, but this comment looks completely outta touch with the modern nba.

A) suns don’t have a g league team anymore. So no minor league coach

B) deep assistant coaching benches are the norm as they all usually have unique roles. Particularly on the suns where they skinnies down their scouting team.

At least two players, Shamet and Payne, should be forced to compete for their jobs in preseason because of how poorly they played last season. The rotation, not their spot on the team. Ish Wainwright should get a shot to steal Shamet's position, because if nothing else, could Wainwright be much worse?

Because he's not tall but extremely strong, I wonder whether Wainwright could ever play power forward. He would be even more undersized than Jae Crowder, but such width and strength could possibly make him good at boxing out and muscling opponents out of the way. The fact that Wainwright has never to my knowledge been used at power forward means little, because Monty Williams hardly used Wainwright at any position.

I yearn for a coach as bold as Cotton Fitzsimmons, who would try any gimmick and any available player.

You really don't watch the games if you think Wainwright should take Shamet's spot in the rotation. Ish is a combo forward, more of a PF, than a wing or a guard and Shamet is a SG who can play some PG. It would be disastrous to play Ish as Booker's backup.

You question playing Ish as a PF which says you don't watch. How could you know what position bench players typically play unless you watch? Basically this whole post wouldn't exist if you turned on a game.

Also Ish doesn't see much time because he doesn't have much talent. Monty probably played him a bit too often last season. He's an energy guy, sort of like an undersized Bo Outlaw or Lou Amundson. He's tried adding an outside shot but doesn't have the stroke or confidence to hit it regularly.

Some trade ideas from PHNX if the Durant trade doesn't happen. I haven't had a chance to watch it yet.
