Rising star, but not the star he became. Before Dungy he was .500 with 2 losing seasons, including 6-10 the year before Dungy took over.
He was still a star in the league at that time being the number one overall pick and even a household name before Dungy. Dungy took him over the hump. And that’s what Kyler needs imo.

So Kyler is classified as a star?
Probably? What does that mean in this context? I'm sure there are like Q rating type metrics for this stuff, but Kyler was leading the MVP conversation for the first half of the season, and he's a top fantasy QB, so people know who he is.

Peyton Manning lead the league in yards his second season and second-team All-Pro in his second and third seasons.

Is he not??
Again, IMO, like I feel about Manning in those 1st 4 years...Murray is a rising star, but won't be full star status until he maintains some consistency at a high level. Manning showed how good he could be under Mora, but it was about his 2nd or 3rd year under Dungy where he elevated at then kept it at that high level the rest of his career. That's just how I look at it, anyway.

It's been a while but IIRC there were questions about if the league had figured Manning out before Dungy came to town. He threw 23 picks in Mora's last season.

Exactly and the team went 13-3 his 2nd year, 10-6 his 3rd year and 6-10 his 4th year and last with Mora. The team, and Manning, was regressing. At least Murray has progressed, YOY, even with last year's flameout.

Looking at those W/L totals, KM wasn't in the same stratosphere as Manning.

Manning came into the NFL when there was a dearth of good QB talent. Remember the year the Ravens won it all in the early 00s? Look at the QBs they faced. Kerry Collins took the Giants to the Super Bowl.

It's pretty easy to win when you're facing teams that don't have good QBs.

I was scrolling through this and saw Manning and thought you guys were talking about Eli because at this point I cannot put Kyler in the same realm of thought with a guy like Peyton... but I would take Kyler over Eli any day, even though Eli has won there's just something about him which makes me go, "meh" lol

There's an elite training facility in Tempe. Disgraced LSU running back Darius Guice was training here pre-draft and my brother (LSU Vet School 2019) thought he was gonna be a CArd.

All charges were dropped against Guice btw. Not sure about disgraced. We should bring him in. No different than the corner we signed.

After the strangulation charges it was revealed that there were numerous assault accusations against him during his time in college that were covered up by the LSU police/athletic department. There was even an incident of him threatening a Sports Illustrated reporter. LSU banned him from the athletics program and removed all his statistics from their record books.
