There was a ball change several years ago that was a huge issue for the league but I can't recall the details. I just remember players like Nash really disliking it and it went on for more than a few games. Maybe it's something similar this time?

Few games I can buy but most people who grow up playing sports have used a ton of different balls. It's just a weaksauce excuse outside of a couple games IMO. To me it's like when the NBA changed the rims. Players complained, blamed it on the rims but the league adjusted quickly.

I remember when the league went to the synthetic balls during the Nash years. I can't recall what season but it was a league wide issue where players regularly complained and they switched back by the All-Star break, if not sooner, because shooting was down and turnovers were up a measurable amount. Having hard data to back up the complaints helped and anyone who felt one of the synthetic balls could feel the difference immediately. It didn't have the same bounce as the leather balls and the grip was different. I can't remember if it was stickier or slicker but it didn't feel right.

Changing brand shouldn't cause the same issues though, at least not for an extended period. Players should get accustomed quickly, if they aren't already. As noted, players use all sorts of brands in practice. It's not nearly as drastic as changing the material of it entirely.

The synthetic ball complaints were that it “cut” up the fingers. And Stern was vested in the synthetic ball in some sort or way, which was an eye brow raiser as well.

I'm sure the teams practice with the official balls. I doubt the players are that stringent though about what they use when at home, playing pick up games, or on their own time.

Meh. People of all ages use them interchangeably. I could buy needing to adjust for a practice or two but not the overall season unless the balls somehow don't meet the same specification as the previous ball which I doubt.

I remember someone saying that one of the reasons Lonzo Ball shot so much better at UCLA than in the NBA was they used different balls in college and that the ball they used was notoriously better for shooting.

This wouldn't stun me even Steph Curry is missing open 3's more often this year it seems and I've seen him shaking his head and looking at the ball, I don't think he likes the new balls either.

The non-basketball moves change was long overdue. It's funny though, I noticed a couple times Paul looking like he was going to pull one of those moves where he gets in front of a big to force a foul. You can tell he thought about it for a split second. I have also seen a couple odd looking threes in other NBA games where the player clearly thought about forcing contact on a three.

Jordan Poole had a breakout game last night had been scuffling since first game but over 30 last night 7 threes, 6 in the first half. Curry was apparently not feeling well they said he was tired and they changed his minutes, took him out with 4 minutes left in the first quarter he usually plays the whole quarter. But luckily they brought back Gary Payton 2 who completely changed the game last night with his defense and dunks. Had a huge tomahawk dunk over Oubre in transition and in the 2nd half he caught a 1 hand floater from Curry and dunked it. I'm convinced it was a shot not a pass, Charlotte claimed it was basket interference but the replay was clear it wasn't.

Melo took a hard fall on a collision with Curry. He's very fun to watch, really good offensive player but man he can't guard, the Warriors exploited him all night long on defense.

Miles Bridges my goodness he's so improved suddenly he can make threes.

I'm guessing Miles Bridges gets more than the 4/$60 million he was offered as an extension. He will make more in restricted free agency.

The Warriors will really be scary when Klay Thompson returns not that aren't good right now.

Poole had missed something like 18 straight 3's before the last game he finally hit one last night had 7 at one point he was 7-10 from 3 I think he missed the last 3 he took after. For him its' all about shot selection.

Payton is amazing they started bringing him in at end of quarters to guard and he kept getting steals and now he's getting legit minutes in the middle of games. 6'3" with long arms and man can he jump, I loved him at Oregon State but wasn't sure how he'd fit in the NBA since he's not a PG, he's making a role for himself.

Reminder on finding and developing talent, they had Payton last year and then they had him all through camp this year, cut him, and then brought him back. They cut him and Avery Bradley and the word was they wanted to keep Bradley but the players told them they should keep Payton instead. they cut both the Lakers signed Bradley and the Warriors brought Payton back. I'm not sure why they had to cut him some procedural thing I assume.

Defensively he's like his dad you just can't dribble against him if you're not careful he's going to take it away, he got Melo twice last night that led to dunks. Had a great block last night too. He's not a good enough shooter to ever start but man he's fun. Iggy has adopted him you can tell Iggy just loves him.
