Churn the roster, why not? I expected this to be all about kickers, which was surprising after Nugent did well this week.
Nugent's kicks were good, but were all short ones, I believe. And his kickoffs barely made the end-zone. Shows me that he doesn't have a strong leg. But seems to be pretty accurate on the under 40 FG's.

I certainly don't think he's the answer. I was just looking at the title and thinking he might be on the replacement list.

As an ASU alum, I hate to hate on Zane, but I'm not concerned about Nugent's distance when we can't make it from the 40-50 range in two games.

The way Kliff coaches what we need is an accurate kicker. Leg strength is ideal of course but it's less important because we go for it on 4th down so frequently anyways.

If Nugent keeps making the shorter kicks that's great, if he doesn't then yeah you bring in someone else. I obviously am guessing but I get the impression as long as we're in the playoff hunt, Zane's back is going to be a thing. I strongly suspect they just looked back at the season and realized he's cost us in a major way in 2-3 games, we can't go into the playoffs with him as our kicker?

I just got bad feeling about Nugents kickoffs. Keep giving the other team a chance to return is a disaster waiting to happen similar to Pats game.

Well ya never know what you can find? We honestly should not be looking for a kicker this late in the season.

You must have already forgotten how many clutch kicks we have missed this season. How can it get worse than missing kicks when it counts? Anyone we sign can only keep things terrible or actually improve. Either way, we saw a need and tried to fix it.

To be honest, it has crossed my mind that I don't necessarily mind Nugent not being able to kick 40+. I have felt Kliff sometimes puts too much faith in those longer kicks being automatic and taking them away might make him play a little more aggressively.

For example, would be have had to suffer through that garbage at the end of the Miami game is Kliff wasn't banking on a 49 yard FG as his fall back?

Of course, that goes out the window if you NEED to kick a 50 yarder to win a game.

This is when it starts to get more sticky... will he get more slack by not going for a 46 yard FG in the middle of the game because you don't have enough faith in your kicker/longer kicks? You know he will be blamed by going for it and failing on a 4th and 1 or 2 from the 30 yard line.
