From Inside Training Camp Live: Washington QB Alex Smith is expected to land on PUP, able to work to the side. The team must make sure he can protect himself before it clears him fully. pic.twitter.com/gzwByOL4js
That's amazing that he wants to come back, let alone walk, let alone be alive right now. Wow.

#49ers John Lynch (on KNBR) on Deebo Samuel, who broke foot last month: "Not going to put an exact timeline on it but it's fair to say he may miss some games at the start of the year."

Antonio Brown last played in an NFL game Sept. 15, 2019. Barring a successful appeal, the soonest he will play again is early November 2020. And that's if no further violations are found, with the NFL's investigation still open on allegations in a civil case in Florida.

Odd. Had a 70.2 PFF grade and 2 sacks in very limited play time. And DT's are in short supply with it being the most popular opt out position.

I'd say look for the Cards to pick him up as Buckner knows him well from last year, but we are pretty well stocked at DT.

Revised CBA is signed, finally

It took 10 days, but it’s finally done.

The NFL and NFL Players Association have hammered out, finalized, and signed the formal document revising the Collective Bargaining Agreement in light of the realities of the pandemic. The tentative agreement was reached on Friday, July 24.

The actual agreement likely will be published sooner than later, allowing for full review and analysis of all terms.

Some will say the league won. Others will say the union won. By getting this behind them and allowing a mutual focus on finding a way to play the 2020 season during an unprecedented public-health crisis, they both won.

For example: #Broncos tackle Ja’Wuan James opted out yesterday. Not only does his $10 million salary come off the books for 2020, so does the $3M prorated portion of his signing bonus for a total of $13M in cap relief. The entire contract tolls, not just the cash.

NFL teams are about to gain tens of millions of dollars in cap space.

The management council informed clubs that signing bonus proration -- not just unearned salary and bonuses -- will be removed from the 2020 cap immediately upon notification a player is opting out, per sources

That's a lot of money for players to lose.
