I’m not sure why everyone is constantly talking about getting rid of Sweezy. He was the best and most consistent guy on our line last year and brings an edge. I know Pugh makes too much to get cut yet but I won’t his soft ass a bit.

Because he is old, is on the last year of his contract, and is just average.

We are not signing Clowney.

We don't have the cap room, and we just signed Kennard to a 3 year deal.

Not to mention I expect Simmons to get some reps as a pass rusher.

Clowney isn’t a pass rusher. He’s a run stuffer. That’s why he isn’t getting the money he wants.

but yeah we couldn’t sign him anyways

didn't realize how up against the cap the Seahawks were prior to those moves

I also think they believe they can get Clowney for ~$13-15mm a year

Seattle has the same problem as the Cardinals.

Schneider keeps missing HORRIBLY on a number of positions and they have to overpay for free agents to fill those. They are also paying an ILB nearly $20 MILLION per year. That means you cant pay pass rushers and cornerbacks money.

Seattle has that good D and russel will just be fine without good protection idea.

But that doesn't cut it anymore, Russel is a step slower and gets entangled more often and the O-line doesn't get better and you saw the result in the declining winrate and in the playoffs.

And Seattle is missing in the draft but also in the trades and FA signings so at the moment the D isn't as good as it was when they were in the SB and Russel is a better QB but not that elusive anymore so he would need a bit more protection. But I guess they will try and if Russel goes down, or has more bad games they will swing for some O-Lineman.

Seattle's D is no longer all that good. They havent remade the Legion of Boom and their pass rush is pitiful compared to their heyday.

Seattle has missed on edge rushers so many times and for some silly reason, they though trading Clark and picking up Clowney was a good idea.

Yeah... 22nd in points & 26th in yards last season. It's all on Wilson there.'

...dave
dave yes you are right, but the draft idea and signing idea and so on is still the same as in the SB years. With 2-3 calls in the other direction, the Seachickens are not in the playoffs. And you could see that Russel lost a step and that is something that will get worse not better, after 7 years in the league this guy needs a half way competent O-line to stay alive, but he doesn't get it so he may run this year as well and as soon as he gets crushed, the sea chickens crush even harder.

We beat the "Shehawks" up there almost every yr lol. I love watching the faces of their fans when they know we're going to win, after they've tried to use their stadium advantage the whole game & it just didn't work once again lol.

What was so nice last year was that we manhandled them in the trenches. It's so demoralizing for the fans to watch that all day. As Cardinal fans, we've seen that happen to us too often in the past. But, a new day is upon us!

It’s not that it wasn’t a good idea they just can’t afford to pay either guy.

They can. But when you pay an ILB almost $20m per anum, you cant really pay any pass rushers big money.

That's why if I were a GM, I'd spend big money and high picks only on QB, OT, CB, or edge.
