Yes, Patrick Peterson makes a difference. (He was sure to note that no passes were thrown at him when the Cardinals ran man-to-man coverage, completing one on three targets otherwise.)

The FA Wr caught 2 short passes in front of PP but they weren't really a big deal.

In general it was PP of the past, they were scared to throw at him and when they did they got very little.

I was actually surprised they threw at him at all and twice to that FA WR who caught the ball. I thnk PP was surprised too.

I think they were testing him to see if he was at top speed. Now they all know.

+ 2 years of Franchise Tags. After that, he'll be 32 and I'm not worth the contract he'll demand. He can be a one year warrior, bouncing around the league ala Neon Deion Sanders.

Personally, I'd try to get him to sign a new 4 year deal after this season. If he doesn't do it, fine... I get him for 3 more years anyway at cheaper money.

Part of it is that you know Peterson wants a new deal before turning 30. The benefit of giving it to him now is that you arrange an extension until 2022 or 2023 which would put him at 32 or 33 years old. That still enables to to spread a bonus and puts him in a Fitz situation in a couple years.

I don't KNOW that he is wiling to re-sign, but Harry is accurate that if you offer up a 3 year extension at 17 per year, you know where his commitment level is at.
