Pre-Draft Analysis

Thompson is a tall and lean free safety with excellent range and excellent instincts. He's adept at reading routes and the eyes of quarterbacks. Thompson had multiple opportunities to intercept passes that he failed to cash in on. He takes sound angles and closes well in run support.

Rather have the best player with the least chance to bust than someone that sucks that fills a need for a year or 2.

Safety was a need anyways.

He has great instincts...and he's good in coverage...he's just not the type to come down with amazing one handed interceptions, which is what I meant by ball hawk. Oops.

Early in the draft process he was considered a 1st round prospect. We need depth at the Safety position and he is a very good value pick in the 5th. He is solid in coverage and a physical tackler. As stated earlier skillet hands sum it up pretty good. This guy can play and will add nice depth to the secondary.

PFF had him ranked 66 overall. We got him at 139.

I'm guess the knee issue explains his fall.
