His numbers are spectacular when he's on the floor, but he's hurt again, with another knee issue. He has missed the last six games and there is no timetable for his return. Almost five years after being drafted, he still hasn't made it to his 150th game. He turns 25 in a few days, so he's about to enter his prime years. Does anyone think his injury problems will get better during that stretch? Ayton sure looks like the better long-term prospect to me.

Yup. As is often said, great numbers look terrible laying on the trainers table.

And one can hardly imagine him getting healthier as he gets older... and has even more wear on his knees.

Taking the long view, it's entirely possible his NBA career may end up equivalent to that of (a more athletic) Bill Walton.

He didn’t even play until his 3rd year.

He’s been hurt since day 1 and it’s not gonna get better with age

Injuries suck but I think they are happy with what they get out of him when he actually plays. Ayton needs to actively look to take more shots. There is no reason he shouldn’t be putting up KAT offensive numbers.

This fact often gets neglected when comparing Embiid to other players.

Your telling me 2 years in an NBA weight room, getting used to the travel and life as a pro and getting to practice against pros matters?

Who would of every thought that

This guy is already 25 too, so much for the trash talking.

If he’s not back for the 3rd seed swing game vs Indiana on Sunday you’d think he may be shut down.

Dear rest of the world outside Filly,

If Joelle Embiid get hurt, does anyone on the rest of the planet care about his hot mess?

Sincerely,

Actually I think a few teams are watching it because there were some clauses put in his contract that allowed to Sixers to waive him if he re-injured whatever hindered his debut. That will save them a substantial amount of money. Who knows when they'll do that, not this summer, but if he's kept out a while they'll consider it. He will get signed elsewhere when that happens. For how much and where is anyone's guess but his career won't be over that quickly. Oden toughed it out and didn't retire until after what would have been his 7th season. We'll see what happens with Embiid. I don't see him going away as quietly as Oden, he lives for the celebrity status the NBA gave him.
