Mainstreet, can you clarify for me when you say only Sarver can fix the Suns problems, but they are much deeper than the next draft pick? I've got two or three things going around in my head about what you might mean, but...?

I sort of said it in my previous post. The Suns need to invest substantial money to change the Suns image and expertise by hiring proven personnel to fill the general manager, head coach and scouting positions. Unfortunately I don't think this is going to happen anytime soon.

It seems like the Suns are hiring personnel that are always new to their job. The self perpetuating cycle needs to end. The Suns need to be able to attract top free agents to the team but it is a hard sell. Who wants to come to a team to lose. Building a team by draft picks is difficult. If the Suns miss on a player in the next draft, what then.

My advice to Sarver would be sell the team or bring someone on board to run the franchise. The present arrangement is not working.

Somebody needs to get in Sarver's ear and get him to retire to Italy or wherever the soccer team he bought is located. Put someone like Steve Nash in charge of the Suns. He knows Nash, has a history, and is even business partners with him on the soccer team. I don't imagine there are many people Sarver would trust but Nash might be one. Then he can live out his days collecting large sums of money and stay the hell away from the team, for better or worse.

Over the history of the NBA, drafting multiple players--especially when both are considered nearly equal--at the same position has never really worked out well. In the 2009 draft Minnesota drafted point guards with the 5th and 6th picks (Rubio, Flynn) and another one with their second round pick. Its like they could not decided who was best so they took both. McD had a bad habit of doing that. He did it with Bender and Chriss, and even with this draft we ended up with Okobo and Melton. It is better to just commit to one.

I absolutely agree. Two new players competing in practice is one thing.

Competing with each other in games to be the top dawg at one position during the season does not build confidence in either player or chemistry for the rest of the team.

Don’t buy it. This is sports. You compete with others for your position from little league and pop warner to high school to college in all sports. All of a sudden having to compete with someone for a spot on a pro team is a problem? I think the real problem is you guys trying to find problems that don’t exists.

Agreed. Chriss and Bender failed because they are not good players. Chriss has no basketball IQ or defensive awareness, and Bender has no balls. That's why they failed; not because they had to compete against each other.

He said some things about 9/11, mainly that we were the cowards and the hijackers were the brave ones. ABC didn’t really care at the time, but people started contacting the sponsors and several pulled heir ads from the show. ABC definitely cared about THAT and cancelled the show.

We’ve been looking at it the wrong way. They obviously don’t care about the fans, but he and the board sure as hell care about the sponsor money flowing in.

Until he does something terrible nothing will change. They just signed their paypal deal prior to this season. The best chance of hitting him in the pocketbook is when he starts asking for a new arena but with Seattle sitting empty, that isn't a game of chicken I think anyone wants to play.

Yahoo wrote a total clickbait headline for it, saying that the police took the floor after a foul on a former MVP but Beverly appeared to dive for Westbrook's knees. There's video in the link and if you watch both angles, the second one makes it obvious he was going for Westbrook and not the ball.

Lot of history with him and Westbrook too. He caused Westbrook's first knee surgery which led to the one he had this offseason. He did one of those plays that drives me nuts where the guy with the ball is calling timeout and the defender rushes in trying to get to the ball before teh timeout is granted. he knocked Westbrook back and he hurt his knee and eventually had to have surgery. He'd done the same thing to Westbrook in an earlier game and nearly injured Westbrook then.

It looked like a tackle move you see in football and the same type move that injured Westbrook before except this is not football.

Guys who are out there deliberately trying to injure other players don't belong in the league. When it gets to 3rd and 4th instance of this crap I'd banish them. Dellavedova, Beverly, Zaza... if I were running the sport they'd either be banned or facing extremely long suspensions the next team something they did had even a whiff of this nonsense.

I'd like to note, although I cannot stand Draymond Green, his brand of dirty is distinctly different and not something I'd throw a guy out of the league for. A kick to the balls hurts but isn't career threatening, unlike these pieces to trash who go after players knees, ankles, undercutting them in the air, ect.

Someday a player will have his career ended by a repeat offender and when he sues the league for failing to provide a safe working environment, maybe we'll finally see some sanity in the way they handle these things. I know it's hard to prove intent but whether it's malice or recklessness doesn't really matter, these guys have a right to expect better policing on the part of the league.

Draymond got kneed in the nuts last night by Julius Randle. Randle drove in, Draymond was sliding over to take the charge and Randle raised the knee and nailed him. Insult to injury they called the foul on Green, the ref who called it pointed at the floor indicating Green was inside the circle. Green was doubled over on the floor, when he finally got up and realized they'd called the foul on him he threw his hands up and went away. I actually thought the refs called a T on him but they didn't. Kerr was going nuts, the replay clearly showed Green was outside the circle, the irony was I don't think he was set he was still sliding but the ref didn't call that he pointed to the circle. I hate that rule if you're outside the circle they almost always call a charge even if the defender isn't set. So they got it right but for the wrong reason.

Another crazy ref game last night. Randle bulled into Jerebko knocked him back into the circle area, then jumped in again and they called teh foul on jerebko because he was inside the circle. Warriors went nuts, Jerebko got the T. down the other end, Randle and Jerebko were standing in the post doing nothing, off the ball, and the ref called a foul on Randle. He stood there stunned, jerebko walked away laughing clearly agreeing with Randle he hadn't done anything.


There was also a great moment at the half where they spent 5 minutes before the 2nd half started deciding if Davis had 2 or 3 fouls. Why they didn't do that at halftime I don't know. At one point Steve Kerr walked over with the refs and Davis standing there and you could read his lips saying "I think he has 5 fouls" and Davis started laughing and patted Kerr on the shoulder. They ended up saying he had 2 fouls, and during the first dead ball the Warriors tv crew clearly showed that the foul in question was in fact on Davis, not on Frazier. So they delayed the game 5 minutes at the start of the 2nd half, and wound up still giving the foul to the wrong player.

Draymond is still owed about 5 kicks to the balls, so I don't feel bad for him, but, like I said, he's a loathable player, but there is a difference between causing someone some point, like from a kick to the balls, and doing something career threatening, like diving into a guy's knees. Green is jerk but he hasn't been trying to truly injure people.

I am really impressed. I was high on him pre-draft if I remember correctly, but he was awful last year. He is playing really well this year.

I'm not passing judgement on Koko yet, it's far too early, but I really like Dave Joerger. Anyway, I had the same concerns about Fox that I had about JJ, hopefully Jackson will find his game before it's too late for him and for us.

I was very high on Fox until it became clear the Suns were not going to draft him. He caught my eye watching Kentucky basketball.
