Booker didn’t demand anything. If anything, it sounds like you should be upset at the front office for telling Booker he was the foundation of the franchise. Sure he doesn’t need to be consulted on everything, but not every player we trade or waive is his best friend either. More about common courtesy then getting his ok on it.
I’m no apologist for the front office. They do things stupidly regularly. But even telling booker he’s the foundation (or whatever they actually told him) doesn’t mean he needs be, or even should be, consulted or informed about every move. And in fact he really should NOT be consulted in regards to what would be an emotionally charged decision the front office has to make. That’s the greatest recipe for disaster you’re cooking.

McDonough should have told Booker first or at the same time as Ulis.

You honestly find this as a better way of handling the situation? That seems highly unprofessional. Let's fire a guy in front of his best friend who we're about to give $150+ mil to.

Tyler was as good as gone when they pushed back his guarantee date. If they couldn't see what was coming then they need better reps around advising them.

I think the correct way to have handled the situation was to let Booker know that there would be some tough roster decisions coming and that Ulis was on the bubble. Let him know that, if Ulis is waived, Ulis would be the first one to be notified as we want him to hear from the team directly. We'll call you after and discuss the circumstances.

I'm talking about Booker's relative value to the Suns. He is their cornerstone and I would like to keep him around for awhile.

Players talk and players eventually walk if they are not treated properly.
The fact that you label this as booker “not being treated properly” is just ridiculous to me.

Not sure why you’ve decided to ignore the “best friend” part of all this. Remember he’s still a kid and stuff like this matters and he certainly hasn’t had to be part of tough decisions like this yet.

Again, we are not saying for the Suns to let Booker make the decisions, but when it is a player like Ulis, NOT telling him can be a publicity nightmare. And guess what? It’s happening before our eyes!

I do, especially in this situation.

Booker was supposed to be involved in the Suns decision making. It would be good to tell him his best friend is being waived in advance.

LeBron essential assures a high playoff seed all by himself so trying to keep him happy with overpaying guys he likes can at least be justified. Booker is nowhere near that despite being the Suns best player.

I'm talking about relative value. Certainly Booker is not Lebron but he is the Suns poor man version.

He is not any version of LeBron. LeBron gets away with what he gets away with because he is easily one of the 10 greatest players of all time and guarantees a team a deep playoff run. No one on the Suns is capable of that.

I was thinking (bookers value) more along the lines of a Bradley Beal or CJ McCollum.lol

I think we have identified Booker is not Lebron.

You want to compare the players directly. It's misleading.

What we haven't identified is why we should treat him as if he were?

Booker is the cornerstone of the Suns franchise. What is so hard to understand?

I think people should be treated better than mere property whenever possible.

What?

Devolving this discussion into whether Booker has the clout of Lebron James is idiotic.

You're right, we should get back to the very important topic of which social media posts he likes and/or unlikes.

Being a cornerstone of the franchise doesn't entitle you to be involved in who gets cut when. Honestly it would be unfair to Booker to put that pressure on him. What happens if they tell Booker before before hand? He either tells Ulis before the Suns can relay him the message themselves or he doesn't and has to explain to his buddy why he didn't warn him. To me your approach of telling them both at once seems highly unprofessional.
