What do ya'll think about possibly trading a mid-round pick to pry him away from Indy. I know the Cards liked him coming into the draft and you know Keim cannot resist the NC State connection. Smart, tough, strong, accurate arm, nice poise, & able to get out of trouble when pressured. Spent a couple years in NE being groomed by BB, McD, and TB12. I've heard his name speculated by the local media.

Wondering what everyone else thinks? Possibility or pipedream?

Key - If he had to start 4 games against average or better competition, how many do we think he'd win?

They spent a first-rounder on Dorsett, who was traded for Jacoby. Don't know if a mid-round pick would cut it. Also don't know if Luck is going to recover.

You can’t answer that question without knowing the team is built around him… But every time I’ve watched him play he’s actually pretty impressive and smart and doesn’t make horrible mistakes

I think Brissett will excel in Stanton role. Bring him in for a 4th round pick this year or 3rd round pick next year. With McDaniels coaching Colts, why the heck would they trade Brissett ? If he does, McDaniels 2.0 is same as McDaniels 1.0 unless it is a second rounder to better offer

Brissett is better than Stanton or Gabbert. He has good size at 6' 4"" 231 lbs. He threw 13 tds, 7 interception 59% completion with 3100 yards and scored 4 rushing tds. He is 25 years and this was his first starting season. Could he develop into a solid starter??? or even be the gap starter while the Cards bring along a rookie???

Colts also thought that Luck would be back and not out the entire season. Brisket was the 3rd string qb.

I don't see them moving him with Luck still recovering. If Luck plays the last 8-12 games, then they may move him next off season, but there is no guarantee Luck will be ready to start the season.

right... but BB was willing to trade Brissett for a 25 catch a season WR... granted, dude was a first round pick and he is still young... but he has hardly been stellar ..overall BB gave Brissett away for a song& dance with a super sized coke....

My point was that, unless we feel we can win at least half our games with our backup QB, why waste time, energy,, money or roster space on him? But if he can help us win over half our games, we could feel confident that, should our starter be injured, we'd still have a decent shot at the playoffs/SB.

my philosophy has always been that your backup should me a mirror image of your starter... but a poor mans version...exact same style of play. This way you dont have to change your offense if your #1 gets hurt... you just have to deal with fewer completions and maybe a few more turnovers.
and I agree with you that you should expect to be able to at least go .500 with your backup...anything less is third string. That keeps you alive if your starter has to sit out four or five games.
