Lots of hope for a post season birth with this young team...
And what a great way to get the season started with an OT win over the Flyers!

Nice start to open the season. Maybe this year they will get more 2 points than just one when playing overtime games.

These guys and the Suns are actually following through with well designed youth movements that will make them very relevant in a year or two. This is going to be a fun season. Main challenge this year will be getting our goaltending back to a reliable situation.

The team started out fast but ran out of steam. Smith wasn't particularly good beyond his crazy OT save. Good to see Chychrun and Dvorak get their first points. Strome being a healthy scratch is troubling.

I still cant believe we won that game. Smith was unreal in the OT because that was frustrating to watch. It was like they were on a 3 on 5 powerplay for the first 2/3 of OT. Then BOOM! We won! :) GoYotes!

This start to the season is killing me tho! Some teams will be playing their 6th game before we play our 2nd... Gahhhh! I get all amped up for Hockey and they have the weirdest first week schedule ever... Starting the season with 1 home game followed by a 6 game road trip also sucks. :(

Probably didn't deserve that second point, but with the road trip coming up, we'll need it.

I loved our speed in the first two periods. If we can apply that speed to a solid defensive system, we'll do some damage. I'm really curious to see how the kids hold up over the course of a very long regular season.

Brutal game in Ottawa. Smith goes down and could be out for a while. Louie came in and got hammered. 7-4 to the Sens.

So far this team looks exactly like Shane Doan said it would.

Brilliant at times, horrible at others. He said he doesn't see a whole lot of average in this team and it looks like he is right on.

Still, there is so much young talent on this team, I really hope we see them round into shape towards the end of the season.

Fingers crossed for Smith. Losing him really puts us up against it with this brutal road trip to start the year.

I think we'll have a better idea where we are heading about 10-15 game in. I agree that the skill level is much higher than we've seen in a looooong time, so if they can start playing Tipp's system and utilizing their speed, we could really make some noise in a fairly weak division.

3 loses in a row stinks but plenty of games to go to turn it around.

A win would be nice about now. Don't make me pull out the Tom Petty video this early in the season. :bang:

Today's game is listed as the daily "free game" on nhl.com, but I don't know if that means it will still be blacked out for the Phoenix area.

Wow what's with all the empty seats in New Jersey? I thought our attendance was bad.

I believe this is the worst start in franchise history. So we have that going for us. :hammer:

Yeah, but let's be honest. This young of a team with a 7-gm roady to start the season wasn't going to turn out well.

Wild game last night, but we came out on top 5-4. Home cookin' starts Saturday against the Avs.

Domingue has been brutal to start the season. Terrible goal given up last night.

Domingue played well last night as the Coyotes beat the Sharks 3-2. More injuries for Hanzal though. Can that guy stay healthy for at least half of a season?

Most teams suffer from it. It is just a little more glaring for us because we've never had that superstar that can put a team on his back and make up for a couple of passengers.

The '11-12 team figured it out and outworked just about everyone on their way to the conference finals.
